DEO to Escambia Regarding the Comprehensive Plan Amendment: "No Comment"

The county received the below correspondence from the Department of Economic Opportunity regarding our comprehensive plan amendment--and I am told by relevant staff this means the county is proceeding correctly and there are no issues with what was submitted.  This, however, does not stop citizens from taking further exception with plan amendments in the circuit court, however.  From the state:

"Please see attached correspondence from the Department of Economic Opportunity regarding the above comprehensive plan amendment.  In addition to this electronic message, a paper copy of the letter is being mailed to the addressee.  Paper copies of the attached correspondence are available upon request.  Please contact the Department planner identified in the attached letter if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank You"

  1. No comment..OK I get that politically and saw the Forrest Gump ping pong blog but actually I really wish the representatives had left this protection for Silva culture and AG protection in the CP. Yeah we know you didn't like her saying something about you online and the paint store but think beyond that.

Sure you are elected and have the power but you really should give a real full tilt to major conservation. Truthfully -- I recently saw two bob cat kittens that have come into my back yard via a wild life corridor, and raccoons and possums and deer and an actual indigo snake right here in this county, in my yard. Don't ruin it for 30 pieces of silver. Look at Florida Forever purchasing large tracts of land in the NorthEscambia area. Check into that. Florida Forever.

Opting out of the plan is really not good stewardship and very short sighted.

In fact , no matter how great D5 commissioner is about the budget and not being a jerk-- This really is a big deal. Plus will anyone recognized the major possible gas leaks in D5. via Century not accounting for 50% lost gas? People can be pretty nice and gentile..until they aren't.

So just because DEO had no comment--

Does that mean you support taking out conservation protections that were in place in the CP.

Are you for removing conservation protections?

    Please DO comment.

  3. I'm wondering about the Westmarks opting out of the sector plan conservation neighbor hood in the developmental review and whether they will get the same opposition by same people. Watch and see. Feb 6 on the agenda. Is it NIMBY or the principle of the entire thing? Or friends in "high" places.
