Last week there were many persons locally online, including one of my peers on the board, ridiculing my decision to add a discussion and press conference about COVID 19/Chinese Coronavirus and our local response, to our Thursday Committee of the Whole meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. One week later as cases spike nationwide and in Florida--I wonder what these critics think now? |
This just hit my inbox from the Florida Department of Health this morning......14 of these new 25 cases do not appear to be travel related. This is what I have been concerned about.
Last Saturday morning, I directed County Administrator Janice Gilley to put the discussion of COVID 19/ Chinese Coronavirus on The Thursday COW agenda.
There had been NO planned discussion but I demanded the item be added. I was ridiculed online by some on some Facebook chat sites and North Escambia's site for demanding this discussion. I wonder what the folks who criticized my thought process think now, one week later as we are in a national state of emergency and this erupts nationwide like a volcano? What a difference a week makes!
And then this, below from the DOH where 14 of the new cases overnight are not travel related......

I wonder what they’ll say 1 month from now. Those critics are liberal leftist who want you to raise taxes are government workers wanting to fund their huge raises and $100,000 lifetime retirement. Resist Henry “Giardia virus” Rollins and $90,000 a year Kingpin bowling injuries pudsuckier trying to push you to raise taxes. Resist. Underhill’s secretary, Owned, has sworn to them to raise taxes if she’s elected. Resist her. Does the secretary get to keep her job when she loses? Or is it off with the head by her master, Underwhelmed?
ReplyDeleteUnderhill’s secretary came by my neighborhood, with high pitched wheezing cough. I turned off my lights and hid, as I don’t want COVID 19 being spread by a secretary wanna be leftist union Owned politician.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your measured response to this. The fact the government is closing public functions, trying to flatten the curve is telling. COVID 19 is virulent. Also, it usually kills weakened elderly patients. This means it is here to stay, we can manage it if we stagger infections and your critics are proving the old adage, “ never let a good crisis go to waste when you can gain political advantage. “.
