The virus is spread by breathing the breath of an infected individual. People have it backwards and take off their mask to speak while others in the room leave it on.
Talking/ singing in a closed air conditioned room keep the small viral particles in the air as an aerosol.
People will have to change their behavior or it will stay with us.
Thanks for posting what other counties do. In my opinion you are weighing data and seeing what other counties have done and taking a multitude of opinions and data.
I know even during an election you are concerned with the vehement anti maskers.
Statesmen make the hard choices and not worry about the next election -- move away from the blame game and hind site excuses.
This is a novel (new) virus no one had immunity for.
Like the Drs said in the video. Change the culture. The ones letting their breath out into a room are equated to the rude uncivil person cutting deadly farts in other's faces -- yet worse.
I'm not convinced having children being on a bus or in an air conditioned classroom is a good idea yet either. Clearly singing and robust talking in an enclosed space spreads the virus. The economy is tanking so more measures and changes have to be implemented.
Everybody can't just stay in their lane, a leader must arise.
Commissioner Bergosh, where on earth did this chart come from? Did Escambia County Administration or the State compile this, and why are there only a handful of the 67 counties represented?
Per usual, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason in which counties are represented. Running on random.
Perhaps this a list of counties that had taken some action yea or nay at a certain point in the way back machine of the covid timeline, and this information, like so much our Board has been provided, is simply not current?
Case in point: the BOCC of St. John's County (St. Augustine), which does not appear on this chart, has voted down a mandatory mask action three times.
Telling, since after Commissioner Paul Waldron placed a no vote, he was rushed to the ER later during the same meeting (he had phoned in), and has been fighting for his life in the hospital against covid ever since.
Yet 3 of the commissioners on his board still continue to vote down masks. Which is pretty much the epitome of the lunatic obstructionism that is self-imploding the Republican Party right now.
Commissioner, I want to THANK YOU again for standing strong on the mask situation and not being intimidated by the City of Pensacola with their wanting to extend the mandate into the County. The division that masks have caused has become downright dangerous for those that choose not to wear one. I have never worn a mask. I have never stopped living my life in a normal way. I never used copious amounts of hand sanitizer, although I've always washed my hands frequently. I haven't avoided large groups. I've ignored most all of the CDC guidelines. I'm alive. I did a COVID test a few weeks ago and it came back negative. So many are not doing these masks correctly anyway. They're pulling them down when they ride up and pulling them down to talk or wearing them on their neck. My gosh, the eyes are a portal for the virus yet nobody is wearing goggles rendering the masks ineffective! When I got up this morning and saw the news that the County stood strong, I was so thrilled. I know that masks are encouraged but I've been doing all of those things that the CDC has requested and what I'm doing is working. I encourage you to read this article, if you haven't already seen it: https://fee.org/articles/europes-top-health-officials-say-masks-arent-helpful-in-beating-covid-19/
"Humans are intelligent, instinctive, and self-preserving mammals who generally seek to avoid high-risk behavior. The natural law of spontaneous order shows that people naturally take actions of self-protection by constantly analyzing risk.
Instead of ordering people to 'mask-up' under penalty of fines or jail time, scientists and public health officials should get back to playing their most important role: developing sound research on which people can freely make informed decisions."
