Two Editorial Cartoons in One Weekend!!

Andy Marlette Shamelessly plugs his stupid, non-humorous comic strip, Pimp & Twits, at the Pensacola Beach Air Show July 10, 2021--with the same predictably disastrous results as PNJ's news, editorial, and features output and as equally dismal as PNJ's feeble attempts at subscriber growth and retention.....it all just ends in a fiery mid-air disaster......

Wow! PNJ Editorial Cartoonist Andy "Dandy" Marlette and the crack 2-person editorial PNJ team have been  busy little beavers this weekend, once again on the attack, lashing out at the hard working Escambia Board of County Commissioners.  We got two (2) cartoons this weekend, one on Saturday and one this morning.

Andy must be really, really lathered up and exercised to take a "Sunday" slot (the only day PNJ has any circulation over 200 readers) and pivot away from Trump, Rubio, Scott, and DeSantis---to attack us!

It's amusing

But the smaller and smaller number of subscribers PNJ clings on to must be wondering what his anger and venom is all about.  Around town at various social events I attend, I'm always asked "Wow, the cartoonist is always after you--what's up with that?" to which I simply respond, "He's an idiot, he is glib, everyone knows it, and I live rent-free in his head."

So yes, I understand Andy hates those of us that roll up our sleeves and do the difficult yet necessary (and often messy) work of local governance --work he himself couldn't do and couldn't handle---yes, we all get that.  Yes, yes we know he has a fixation on the BCC and yours truly in particular.   Yes we know he has been drawing cartoons about us that are stupid for years now, and yes we know he makes some money for the failing PNJ with his syndicated cartoons which help keep the PNJ financially viable.  (He punched his ticket by attacking former president Trump mercilessly over the last 5 years--which gave him "the creds", apparently, to have a nationally syndicated comic strip given to him--from which he more than likely makes a few bucks).  He uses the N-Word in his cartoons, so what says his employer?   It's not like he's someone that should get cancelled like the Bachelor host, right?  Yes, he hates Trump, makes money for the liberal PNJ, runs a recurring schtick that he's a "Republican" (yeah, right), and does as he is told by his local advertisers---- so they, in turn, ignore that messy piece of nastiness about Andy Marlette, a privileged white man who used the N-Word and flipped the finger to those who wanted to cancel him.  Apparently, he is untouchable unlike so many others who got cancelled for doing the same.  So, yes, PNJ keep him around because of that.  He's nothing but a useful tool.  For the money, and because he does the Patron's bidding unflinchingly.

But when he makes stupid cartoons about me and what I do, I'll continue to manipulate them and make them actually funny.  He really hates that which is also very amusing.  It drives him nuts but he can't do a damn thing about it!   So.............

Introducing "Pimp & Twits"

Introducing "Pimp & Twits!"

And now, with all of this ruckus in the backdrop--- stay tuned for a brand new, actually funny "cartoon" strip of my own based upon Andy's failing, stupid one that nobody reads and that isn't funny.  My version will be titled "Pimp & Twits"  ---Set in the fictional, Florida coastal fishing town known as "Patronville" Starring a meth-addicted, media-obsessed Crocadile who is actually a former human being known as El Patron ---but  who was tragically transformed into a Crocadile/human hybrid in a life-extending, youth enhancing plastic surgery procedure that went haywire in lab in Belize. In addition to becoming a crocodile, his mind became warped and he suddenly, genuinely believed he was loved by all, respected by everybody, and that all people would do his bidding universally. Surrounding the croc, affectionately known as "Pimp"(because he "pimps" everyone around him to do his bidding)  are his cast of cronies that run his deals and his games for him.....  Lisa and Andy, two simpletons that love to dress up like characters from Hogan's Heroes and play-act scenes from that 60's  show, two dimwitted

office assistant types that do also Pimp's bidding--Phaedra and Maya--and the all important Uncle Gus, Andy's long-lost relative from Gainesville who is a HUGE supporter of ANTIFA and who lost a leg in a clash with Police in Portland in '20----and knows all of Andy's secrets and who is not afraid to tell every story through the pages of this comic!  And of course there will be additional "characters" coming out of the 'woodwork" making guest appearances in the months and weeks ahead!  Stay tuned for all the exciting, hillarious episodes to come!

  1. A good majority of citizens don’t realize the individuals driving PNJ have their own self serving agenda. They also don’t know who the big money players are behind that agenda.

The “us versus them” campaign Commisioner Underhill and his wife clearly appear to be encouraging, is a very slippery slope. I doubt they care about the people they’re pulling into the campaign or how it could end up in legal troubles for those jumping on. Commissioner Underhill is obviously disgruntled because of the situation with his legal fees. The board voting to pay the paramedic’s legal fees but not his, surely fueled his desire for retribution. He also knows the power he once had left with the former administrator. Who does he have left to push his agenda? His pliable audience on social media...

Some unethical politicians get lost in their need for vengeance. Joel Greenberg for instance. His smear campaign sparked his 33 indictments. It started with a report from the Sheriff’s Office’s forensics lab, confirming that several fingerprints found on envelopes used to mail letters containing flagrant lies matched samples from Greenberg. Federal authorities would later take over the case, securing an indictment against Greenberg on stalking charges, which ultimately led to the vast amount of indictments.

It’s one thing to hold elected officials accountable in a responsible manor, but an all out assault often results in the boomerang effect. I realize it’s human nature to want to fight back to counter bad publicity, but sometimes it’s best to kick back and let the guilty parties bury themselves. I predict before the end of the year the smear campaigns will end in court proceedings.

    1. Speaking of letters, I think I recall a blog post here showing text messages between Wendy Underhill and Jacqueline Rogers about a letter she sent to Tallahassee about your brother. Am
I remembering that right? If I am, I wonder what was in that letter and did it have her name on it or was it sent anonymously like Joel Greenberg did?

Great observation anonymous 10:27. The Underhill’s personal desires for vengeance has become abundantly clear to me. Why was Jacqueline Rogers involved in this? Does Jacqueline Rogers have a documented history of helping the Underhill’s promote their hate and agendas on her public Facebook group? Or in private conversations? What was in the letter that Mrs. Underhill hoped would bring “bad times” to Judge Bergosh?

I don’t like to bring up family members when discussing someone else’s character or possible unethical behavior, but the Underhill’s resentment towards Judge Bergosh seems to of started after a family member of theirs appeared before the Judge over some legal trouble he got into. Legal trouble that Mrs. Underhill openly discussed on her personal Facebook page.

Does anyone else see a duplicitous habit of phony complaints filed as a revenge tactic? Seems to be a common occurrence with a small group of people, and a couple former county employees.

Back to how Joel Greenberg’s downfall started…with a letter.

  2. On rare occasions Andy nails it:

ANDY MARLETTE | PENSACOLA NEWS JOURNAL | 7:00 am CDT April 3, 2020

“Joe Exotic” may have been arrested in Gulf Breeze. But “Doug Idiotic” is out there running loose around Perdido Key.

That’s right Northwest Florida, yet another attention-seeking elected official is actively humiliating us in the midst of a national crisis.

Now, before you get your hopes up about the level of brain power behind Underhill’s email, keep in mind that this is the same goober who recently guzzled a glass of saltwater from Perdido Bay in order to offer “scientific” evidence that the clanky, stanky Cantonment paper mill wasn’t polluting local waterways.
But Underhill’s most recent nonsense goes beyond being just incorrect, irresponsible and horribly timed.

What makes Underhill’s take truly astounding is its breathless level of narcissism and obliviousness — the very same qualities that helped “Tiger King’s” Joe Exotic go as viral as COVID-19 to become the star-of-the-moment in America’s grand, never-ending, pop-culture freak show.”

  4. Andy Marlette doesn’t like the bocc. Or Douglas Underhill either. He doesn’t include him on the recent cartoons because Douglas Underhill is a powerless irrelevant commissioner now. Not because he’s “the only ethical one” like his wife claims. LOL.

Andy Marlette talking about Douglas Underhill : “Instead, their instinct was defensiveness. To make excuses. To point fingers. To whine and complain about the press and political cartoons. To defend the polluter. And of course, to drink a glass of bay water on Facebook.”

    1. Marlette not including Commisioner Underhill is part of his message. He’s doing it on purpose to make the readers notice his absence. Commisioner Underhill is a ghost Commisioner now. He hardly participates in the meetings except on occasion to lecture others about things he’s most guilty of. When he even shows up. Everyone knows he’s lost all power now and sits on the Dias on occasion to just collect his check. As a tax payer paying his salary I’d like for him to stop accepting county paychecks he doesn’t earn.

Wendy, bless your heart for thinking your husband wasn’t included in the cartoons because he’s the only ethical Commisioner 🥴

  5. Honestly Commissioner Bergosh, I don't understand why you don't just ignore those cartoons. It only gives them air when you draw attention to them. But hey, at least it demonstrates that I don't edit and administer your blog as ECW claims haha Because if I did, this one certainly wouldn't have hit the airwaves. It gives the hit jobs a relevance they don't have otherwise. He's completely clueless and out of step with what's going on at the County--when ECW thinks you hit the mark, that's when you know you don't even see the target. Everyone is aware that he and Lisa shill for Downtown interests--I mean, it's on their fricking banner. And many suspect that Ms. Gilley was increasingly playing for team Downtown along with Commissioner Bender. The cartoon warfare just distracts from those very real, serious realities that have had some nightmare effects for our community over the last couple of years.

Anonymous 9:59, Doug isn't on there because he has always been under the protection of Downtown and the Beach. That's the reason they plucked him out of his backwoods obscurity to run in the first place. When he failed to deliver the roundabout and fee simple for Team Beach, I honestly don't know whether they have any use for him now, other than continuing to block high rise buildings including hotels out on the Key while the final build-out of the Beach takes place. (That was his function on the TDC, to funnel money to Downtown and from there out to the Beach and try to lord it over the County Planning staff and Natural Resources.) But that has all already been accomplished, so hopefully they've tossed him to the side. Downtown needed him for a variety of reasons, including their desire to move Northwest (Sector Plan, where Doug's old business partner used to be a majority landholder; OLF8, when he gladly tanked his scores to gift Navy Federal with DPZ and gamed Fred Hemmer on what team he was actually playing for).

And they still need him, because his job now is to continue to absent himself from the portion of his district that spans the water along Main Street where the juggernaut of overbuilding is about ready to commence. That, and he was supposed to gift that portion of District 2 off in redistricting to further solidify Downtown's power and send that tax base out of his own district. So as long as he still needs a head pat from the big guys and is willing to go MIA on the needs of his constituents, they'll be more than happy to leave him out of Marlette's perverse fantasies.

  10. In my opinion the most damaging local smear campaign so far has been against the county paramedic. What the county and some citizens on the escambia citizens hate page did to him is reprehensible. I think they’re just as culpable as the county is. You horrible people that participated in ruining his life should take a long look in the mirror. What exactly did you all gain from attacking him relentlessly? A time filler to occupy your pathetic lives? Hell, what do you gain by attacking any of the people you’ve chosen to go after? Does it make you all feel good to crucify others? People you’ve never even met face to face. I really want to know. You spit venom more damaging than snakes. Which is exactly what you disgusting people are. Snakes.

I don’t want to be a member of your hateful group anymore. Ive never seen so many personal attacks in one group in all my days. Again today Sean Bullington is making it the Mel Pino show. I don’t care what that lady does or how she pays her bills it’s beyond me why anyone would. She doesn’t live in my head. Sean Bullington, how do you pay your “mortgage, utilities and more”? Because all the time you spend online making an ass of yourself I don’t see how you have time to make money to pay your bills? Do you work or do you make your wife do all the work to pay your mortgage? Do you know the old saying about throwing stones when living in a glass house? Before you make a post about me being Mel Pino I swear to God I’m not. I’m an average citizen that doesn’t like your ugliness. I don’t know if any of you believe in God but you’re all going to answer one day for all the hate you spread.

  12. Should you ever find yourself the victim of people’s bitterness, smallness, insecurities, or hatefulness, remember things could be worse…YOU COULD BE THEM.

Hate is a weak emotion, it’s a sign of failure. They hate because they hate their own lives.
When people hate on you it really is a sign you have something they’re missing in their own lives they failed at getting. Whether it be successful advocacy, a great paying job, a position of power, or personal character traits they wish they had. Their own hate will destroy their lives eventually…really think about that last sentence…because it’s already happening for some and they don’t even know it.

  13. Anonymous 10:24, FYI I haven't made a penny of income since we moved to Pensacola--the last time I earned any salary or any monies whatsoever was when I was in Boston as a teaching fellow and editor. I finally got so sick with lyme disease that I couldn't be reliable health-wise in any capacity.

We moved to Pensacola and a house on the water after I went through my last treatment phase for lyme and coinfections. I'd intended to get a job once the healing process was finished, and I was reliable physically again. But instead I started becoming interested in advocacy, because the RESTORE Pot 1 stuff was happening. From there I was an on again off again advocate for various things, but didn't take it on as a daily occupation until about 3 years ago.

I've never been paid a penny for my "work" in that regard. ECW and Doug/Wendy continually try to get it going that people are paying me to do what I do, and that I am operating under the direction of somebody/somebodies. I don't know what local patron would have been nuts enough to direct and fund me to do what I've been doing. :) Which should be obvious enough, but they get around that by spreading rumors that I am a Soros plant sent to Pensacola to sew a democratic revolution down here. Ridiculous as that is, I'm getting reports that they are hyping that up again. I'm sure there will be no end to the rumors of who is paying me in the next year and a half. The answer to that is pretty simple: nobody.

It gives me and a lot of other people so much hope.

Anonymous 2:30, thanks for the reminder about turning Doug into agencies--some people who are new to this discussion might not know that. I turned in a complaint to the State's Attorney's Office on him for numerous unfulfilled public records, with intent. Larry Downs Jr. also turned in a complaint at that time (we went in together to speak with the SA0). They dragged things out for a year, recommending at one point that I sue Doug in civil court for it. Instead, David Bear did us all that favor. Why the State's Attorney's Office didn't pursue anything when they clearly recognized that he had committed crimes, I have no idea. I don't even know what the status of that complaint is, in their eyes--if it's open, closed, or what.

I also turned in a complaint to the Navy IG for conduct unbecoming. I dropped the complaint when covid hit, as in my stupidity I actually thought Doug might seize the moment to help the community. Of course we all saw the result of his conspiracy-addled non-leadership. I opened the complaint up again with them to report his QAnon activity and liaisons, along with posting stuff on his Facebook that was deemed hate speech by Southern Poverty Law. When I decided to file for office, I again withdrew that complaint, as I figured he would be running again and wasn't going to have an active complaint in on him with us both being candidates. When I closed it, I expressed my hope that the Navy would continue to keep a close eye on him. Remember, nobody but fellow military who need to know really has any idea what security clearance he actually has. It would surprise me if it's all that much, but I of course don't have any idea. That's for the military to worry about.

  28. Ms Pino does not know how to forgive and move foward. Its very clear she is obsessed with Underhill. Her big claim to fame is she got Janice Giley fired. She has our new sheriff phone number on speed dial he is very guy. Im sure he most thrilled when she calls him. The fighting needs to end and the county commissioners do their work. It very sad she signs up to speak on so many issues and half the the time hers facts are not in order. I have seen on several occassions where Pam Childers has set her straight.

  29. "You’d be shocked at the amount of cases that were dropped in less than a month after their charges were filled."

Anonymous 6:03 PM, Yes, I know. :( And that doesn't even count the number of cases that never even make it to having charges filed. One that I know of has three probable cause letters--EPA, DBPR, and Department of Ag (the last asking to execute a warrant on an organized system to defraud, citing the criminal statutes) with no activity.

Conversely, as best as such things can be tracked via public record--which isn't easy--the numbers on charges dropped/innocent in cases with a public defender being assigned are abysmal.

The Underhill PRR stuff was filed while Bill Eddins was in office and assigned Taylor Wells as an investigator and Greg Marcille as the prosecutor. When election time came around, Mr. Marcille was transferred off and Tom Williams assigned the case, at which point the whole thing started over from scratch. Larry and I met with Greg Marcille together, and then Tom Williams, and then I met with Tom Williams once more on my own, with JJ in attendance. It was Taylor Wells who suggested to me on a phone call that if I was impatient with the process at the SAO I really should consider civil court. Around that time, David Bear might have become equally frustrated with his own progress in his separate filing, as he filed two separate constitutional cases. One of those is progressing well in federal court after the County's request to move it there. The other is still on a state level, and I would imagine the state judge might be waiting to see the outcome of the federal trial, as there hasn't been a lot of activity on it.

I'm hopeful for Ginger Bowden Madden's tenure, but the wheels of justice grind slowly enough as it is. And they just suspended criminal court over in Volusia/Putnam/St. John's County again yesterday due to the rapid escalation of covid there. The mark is about 10 percent positivity for places paying any mind to covid. We were already above 10 percent positivity in last week's tracking here at Escambia. I can't remember if criminal court in District 1 was ever suspended due to covid? I don't *think* so, but it's all kind of a blur now. The civil court judges and lawyers did manage to get those proceedings moved to zoom for a long period.

On a side note, Underhill is also facing numerous, serious ethic complaints that should be going on the agenda at the State Ethics Committee soon.

Anon 7:28 PM, who said I can't deal with pushback? I've been dealing with it for years. As for Mr. Ditto, he clearly assaulted a woman on video and it hit the press, and the situation might have gotten worse if Bill Fetke hadn't stepped in, perhaps realizing what a PR nightmare it was going to be. It's laughable to think that any post I made had anything to do with his arrest. I recall that primarily going down on What's Happening Pensacola's wall, not mine, when I was still a member there in the very early days of the page evolving into a political one, although I very well could have made a post about it on my own Facebook--I don't remember. And I certainly wasn't the originator of anything...there were dozens of people expressing outrage through various social media outlets over his assault of a woman in the crowd, in which he tried to rip her mask off. Even after all that, the Republican Executive Committee was right back to amping up the temperature on things, which was actually the moment I decided I couldn't be involved with the GOP in its current state.

As for anybody wanting to "do" Doug or be him, your perverse and vivid imagination on that note speaks for itself. Yet another unhealthy neuronal cascade derailing normal cognition, on full display.

  30. District 2 voter, thank you. I spoke on the general subject of beach access--or lack of it--during the Beach Access 4 item the other night. And even Charles Krupnick (head of the PKA and owner in Seafarer) admitted that there is an acknowledged problem with it now, even though he still doesn't want Beach Access 4 opened. I stated my belief that all of Perdido Key should be open to the public, since it was nourished post Ivan with taxpayer money. He and I are the old die-hards on the topic at this point, I guess. :) For both perspectives, our remarks can be seen at about the 1:53:00 mark here:

Anonymous 12:51, while I have no idea what "he is very guy" means, your opinion on various matters is your right, but I have no idea where you are getting your information that I have the Sheriff on speed dial. Haines, perhaps? (And thank God for it; he's lucky he's still on the taxpayer dime at all.) He seems to be bitter about the fact that he has been relegated to irrelavancy, and continues to complain about various advocates who spoke against policies and practices in his administration.

The out-and-out disinformation that the Clerk of Court has "set me straight" on several occasions I will address, as I'm done letting lies about my advocacy stand when I see them. I would imagine you are taking my comments on the back-end paperwork of the LET funds and extrapolating on that, and perhaps aren't aware that I've been to the podium on this topic multiple times before.

What Ms. Childers actually said last Thursday is that the Escambia process for filing LET paperwork, which seems to me to be against AG opinion on state statute, was put in place by Sheriff Morgan and Bill Eddins. She also said it was "on the Sheriff to sign it"--meaning closing out the back end of the paperwork. That did not accord with the documents I was provided by ECSO, which included the AG opinion that the paperwork should indeed be coming back to the County. She admitted "she was dealing with a state attorney who tells us how it is going to be handled" (and I honestly don't know whether the SAO can legally provide Ms. Childers with duck and cover on this in her role as a constitutional officer). Upon Commissioner May pressing her a bit on her answer, which didn't seem to make a lot of sense per the state statute, the conversation concluded with Ms. Childers saying that "whenever there is a change in administration, you always have to review policies," and that she and Ms. Rogers would be happy to have another conversation about it with ECSO. That's not for me to decide, as I was not speaking for ECSO, but simply providing the documents ECSO provided me and stating that, due to what had been underlined, it didn't look to me as if they were in agreement. Anybody wishing to see the full discussion can click the above link to the meeting video and go to the 2:53:00 mark.

    1. Melissa, Thanks for the response. At first we thought it had to do with covid, but the cases weren’t postponed, they were completely dropped. From what I observed it was predominantly cases involving African Americans with gun and drug charges. Repeat offenders with pages of priors. This might sound paranoid and it’s just my own personal opinion not an accusation, but while reading through all the pages I couldn’t help but think they’re okay with black on black crime as long as it’s contained to one part of town so they don’t bother spending money to prosecute, instead they just drop the charges.

The EPA, DBPR, and Department of Ag cases you’re talking about could be related to the Governor’s deregathon? Florida is a mess.

    REMIND YOURSELF

Remind yourself that this high-conflict behavior is not a conscious process for the HCP. He or she is not “knowingly” getting away with something, or “knowingly” taking advantage of you. His or her actions are driven by unconscious personality patterns. This doesn’t mean that everything they do is unconscious. Most HCPs I’ve handled have lied about something, and knowingly engaged in behavior that’s improper. But they’re driven to do these “bad” things for unconscious reasons.

There’s always been a Target of Blame. Before you and after you the HCP will have treated somebody else the same way—because it’s about the HCP’s personality pattern of blame, not about you. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t consider changing your own behavior, re-examining your own values, or making different decisions. (You should always be considering ways to change and improve your life.) It just means that the cause of the emotionally intense and negative feedback from an HCP is his or her personality.

Maintain your own mental and physical health. You’re much less likely to get triggered by an HCP when you’re feeling good. You don’t take on as much blame and it’s easy to see that it’s not all anyone’s fault. On the other hand, when we get run down we’re most likely to lash out at others, and easily allow ourselves to get “emotionally hooked.” This part is our own responsibility—our part of the problem. And we continually must be aware of this. Getting exercise and enough sleep are good practices.

Get support and consultation. Checking out our responses with trusted friends or a therapist is essential when responding to a High Conflict Person. We often aren’t conscious of when we’re being defensive. Friends and therapists can be very helpful in seeing what you can’t see. They can suggest positive responses that you might not be able to think of under stress.

Don’t engage in a personal battle. If you are already engaged in a personal battle, then disengage now. At any time, you can let go of taking it personally. Remember, HCPs are more comfortable making it simple and personal. It doesn’t mean they are happy doing this; it’s just that it’s familiar to them. They feel safer being engaged in a conflict that’s personal. So you’ll naturally feel like responding personally.

Once you realize you are about to do this, tell yourself: Don’t engage! If you have already started responding in a personal, defensive manner, you can still tell yourself: Disengage!

This part is up to you. So remember: Don’t take it personally. You don’t have to defend yourself. It’s not about YOU!

  42. Aunt Cleo the PsychicJuly 14, 2021 at 1:41 AM

The next person Melissa Pelosi will try to destroy is Pam Childers

    ReplyDelete
  43. Part 1

Aunt Cleo, I don't try to "destroy" anybody. I saw people using their governmental positions to destroy defenseless people under them, and did everything I could to expose that. If they lost their jobs in part to my advocacy, that's not my fault. It's the fault of their actions, which at any time--and over a long time--could have been reversed. People don't have to lead and manage with lies, coercion, and abusive/toxic tactics. If that's all they have in their management tool kit, that's not my fault.

And I have no intention of trying to "destroy" Pam Childers, and the notion that I could even if I wanted to is ridiculous. She is a very popular constitutional officer, and has a lot of great qualities. In fact, I was a huge supporter of hers, and enjoyed watching her push back on the Board in key moments when it seemed the fiscal stuff needed a check.

What I came to realize in the last few months, as the previous administration hired a close friend, confident, and prior employee of the Clerk for the job of Budget head at the County, is that the Clerk really doesn't have any statutory business involving herself in appropriations or budgeting, and that it's dangerous--both operationally, and in principal--when the Clerk's office becomes involved in things beyond her scope. Yes, she lent Sharon Harrell when we lost Stephan Hall to the City (one of the very best we lost). But that hardly put her out--it was a way for her to gain more traction on monetary decisions at the County. And it's pretty clear the new Budget head of Escambia is answering to the Clerk more than County administration. That's not good checks and balances. It's not personal. It doesn't mean they are bad people (there have been and are bad people, but they aren't it). It's just not good government.

Per the LET, all I was trying to do at long last is to get an admission that the SAO and past Sheriff had leaned on the process in favor of David Morgan not having to return the receipts back to the County. I actually feel for Ms. Childers on that note, as who wants to have to offset that kind of nonsense. But as Clerk of Court, I feel like it might have been her constitutional obligation to put the brakes on it, however politically awful that might have been. Like I said though, I could be wrong on that. Perhaps the State's Attorney *can* tell the Clerk of Court how to do her business (and I'm not being coy here--I don't know). All I was trying to do was drag the situation into the light for once and all, after I had a very friendly conversation with Ms. Childers about how the whole absence of back end accounting at the County came to be. I understood then what the political pressure was, and let it go until we had a new State's Attorney in office.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Part 2.

Far from wishing Ms. Childers any ill, I think she got caught up in the politics of the previous administration, and didn't realize what a dead-end it was. And Downtown is working on everybody right now, not just the Clerk's office. That's where the real fault rests in all of this--real estate barons that want to accumulate power in the City, have some off-books control over some of our public utilities, and are trying to blow the County up to achieve that, along with whatever powers in Tallahassee and down in South Florida and nationally might be backing those efforts.

It's a juggernaut right now, so the more people who are attuned to it, the better, whatever your opinion on the potential pros and cons if Downtown gets ahold of the County by ramming in an executive Administrator to lord it over the BOCC. That's what the FAC awards to Robert Bender, Doug Underhill, and Jonathan Owens were all about--they want control of the administrator search, badly. And that's why the PNJ featured an article highlighting the illegal jet ski operation the Underhills are running out of their property. Which is why the County cited Doug for, among other things, running a commercial operation in an MDR area. That won't stop the PNJ editorial and their handlers. I predict we're gonna start seeing a full-fledged attempt to resuscitate Doug, and with two votes for a FAC Admin search in D2 and D4, they will focus on leveraging a third.

It’s a tactic commonly used by Militia groups such as the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Boogaloo Boys, QAnon, Three Percenters, etcetera.

  51. Melissa, This is exactly what’s lining up …….“And they still need him, because his job now is to continue to absent himself from the portion of his district that spans the water along Main Street where the juggernaut of overbuilding is about ready to commence. That, and he was supposed to gift that portion of District 2 off in redistricting to further solidify Downtown's power and send that tax base out of his own district. So as long as he still needs a head pat from the big guys and is willing to go MIA on the needs of his constituents, they'll be more than happy to leave him out of Marlette's perverse fantasies”

I know the city is waiting on the census numbers to be in so redistricting the city will start, but I read it could be after the 2022 election. The downtown interest will still have Robert Bender to vote on issues that will benefit them, but who are they grooming to take Doug Underhill’s seat?

    E. Sims, I'm imagining they'll have a couple on board, if not more, to cover their bases. If Vicki Haines Campbell's house gets redistricted into D2, and she sticks with her original and long-standing plan of running--she has told everyone she isn't giving it a thought, which of course means the opposite--she's a tried and true agent for Downtown and other special interests.

People are looking for someone in the Douggite camp to come in at his prescribed year mark--perhaps Karen Sindall or Jonathan Owens. (I always felt that his pointless campaign in D1 was really a dry run to bring up his name recognition in D2, where they spent far more time putting down signs.)

And the expectation has been that Senator Broxson's aide Kevin Brown will file this month. With obvious ramifications per machines of every variety.

That's of course an incomplete picture of the race as a whole, but the power players will be focused on which republican gets across the finish line, and who else needs to get into the race as a non-GOP in order to offset my candidacy once the primary is over. They are spending an awful lot of bandwidth right now assuring anyone interested in politics that there is no possible way an NPA can win for people who consider it a non-possibility.

  53. Thank you for the response. There’s so many moving parts that are in motion that the public never sees. Personally, I’d rather vote for an NPA at this point. I’m tired of the Democrats and the Republicans. My parents own many properties and a large waterfront lot in sanders beach so they’re interested in seeing how the redistricting plays out.

Read Melissa's comments on Ricks blog about the Cubans protests. She is not an NPA. Escambia doesn't need anyone like that in any postion of power whatsoever. No debating it. https://ricksblog.biz/backroom-briefing-getting-hot-over-protests/

  56. Pay attention people. YOURE INTENTIONALLY BEING DISTRACTED by the commissioner’s retirement debacle. That Commisioner Underhill manipulated.

This comment on Rick’s blog about redistricting os very interesting. Marlett’s hit piece today is proving rumors to be true. Downtown power players are going to do everything in their power to improve Commissioner Underhill’s image. Easily bought to do their bidding. It’s hysterical to see the gullible puppets on ECW congregate like rats around today’s hit piece. Their reaction is EXACTLY what the real powers that be wanted and knew they could create. Distract and make a big deal of something not nearly as big as what’s happening behind closed doors. Well played guys. Well played.

“It is far beyond ridiculous for the City of Pensacola to be gerrymandered up among three different county election districts. District 2 (now represented by Commissioner Underhill who lives in Perdido Key) is gerrymandered to include much of Downtown Pensacola to include Pensacola City Hall, the Port of Pensacola, the Community Maritime Park and the Pensacola Yacht Club.

It is crazy. I have not looked to see what the boundaries were in 2001 but in 2011 the lines were likely drawn to benefit District 2 Commissioner Gene Valentino who lived in two places at once. As I recall the story I heard, he lived full-time in Port Royal where he claimed his homestead exemption. He also lived full-time in Innerarity Point where he registered to vote. As far as I know, he only had one family. Apparently, it is legal in Escambia County to live full-time in two places at once. Mike Hill did it registering to vote where he did not live as did Lumon May until 2019 and now Kevin Stephens is doing it. ECUA board member Elvin McCorvey did it too in a way moving to live in District 4 for most of his last full term of office representing District 3. Three of four Pensacola mayoral candidates are not city residents and not eligible to be elected to any city office in 2022 but no one seems to care

  58. Watching the real players laugh all the way to the bankJuly 16, 2021 at 2:35 PM

The small group led by Jacqueline Rogers and Alex Arduini are the biggest bullies I’ve ever seen. God forbid anyone has an opinion that doesn’t match theirs. They both share the mentality of having to be “right” at any cost. Commisioner Underhill and his emasculating wife are the real instigators. Nancy Demlow, and Sean bullyton ride the coattails of the hate game. Prove me wrong.

Marlette has a proven track record of not being truthful. There’s always an agenda behind every hit piece. The latest hit piece is a distraction using the commissioner’s retirement debacle so the gullible people will look the other way and not see what’s really taking place. Commissioner Underhill gave his loyal puppet Alex Arduini the documents to post all over Facebook.

Blind people are doing exactly what the bigger powers that be want them to. Get hysterical over less important things so you don’t see the bigger picture being played behind closed doors. Well played gentleman, well played.

  61. Anonymous 8:47, looks like DeSantis even agrees with me.

    https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/its-dangerous-desantis-tells-protesters-to-stop-shutting-down-roads

I'm curious. What part of this comment demonstrates I'm "not an NPA?"

"People–all citizens and voters, of whatever political persuasion–should make no mistake about it. Our governor is an autocrat who rules by fiats and megalomaniac whims, with nothing but convoluted and asinine excuses for why he breaks the hair-brained and dangerous edicts his legislators enact for him."

Obviously, one of his advisors told him this is exactly how many in the electorate--including his base--were viewing his convoluted excuses on why Cuban Americans could shut down the roads but Black American's can't. Because DeSantis couldn't give a fiddler's fart what anybody not registered R thinks of him.

Man, that's all some very dangerous territory. And as Doug likes to say, "if you can't see that, then I can't help ya."

As far as my my comments you chose to censor, I will say this:

The difference between the Cuban marches and BLM is one is against communism and one is for it. Simple as that.

    That is all.
