The EMS Dashboard is live at Myescambia.com under the EMS page as of 1-18-2022 |
The EMS division of the County's Public Safety Department have established an informational dashboard that will be updated daily so citizens can see the types of calls we run and the numbers of transports we provide daily and weekly. The screen shot, above, is the first iteration of the dashboard which the public can access at this
link.
The initiative was announced to the commissioners via an email earlier today. From EMS Chief David Torsell:
"Commissioners,
When I first became the Chief of Escambia County
EMS, one of the immediate items I wanted to do address was to provide more
transparency and information about EMS services to our citizens. I wanted a way
to convey what we do in EMS, why we are so busy, and to give a bit of an inside
look our service. With that, I had the idea to have a dashboard created that
would allow citizens that access our EMS home page to be able to see some of
our daily, weekly, and annual call totals. Through a collaborative effort, our
team of EMS, IT, Communications/PI and 911 Dispatch was able to create an EMS
dashboard, approved by our Public Safety Director and County Administrator. I
am proud to inform you that we now have a live EMS dashboard on our EMS home
page."
While it's fantastic this is finally happening, Commissioner Bergosh, somebody needs to set the record straight that Steve White tried very hard to get this done during his tenure, with plenty of support from some of the people who would later be railroaded with him by the County. This looks very much like the type of thing he was proposing, so kudos to the new leadership that they have an administrator who supports this sort of thing currently--and they'll get praise for it rather than arrested. (I'm hardly exaggerating.) Although if memory serves the heads of CMR and IT were given the task of communicating it would be blocked, something like that isn't of course decided without the administrator dictating it--however many layers of plausible deniability there may be. Such things are only as good as the data they're projecting, so here's hoping that there will be full and accurate reporting of the EMS, unlike the covid dashboard has operated.
ReplyDeleteThey should also add number of trucks in service for day and night shift and number of 911 calls still holding on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteChief Torsell - Keep up the good work and remember, people whose gratitude tank stays empty are chronically unhappy and forever disgruntled. Ignore those who try to belittle your ambitions, small people always do that.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 1:09, if you think that those with eyes in their heads were fooled by that dog and pony show that got trotted out for WEAR, I can assure you they weren't. Some of us have put too much blood, sweat, and tears on the line to try to make the room necessary for good leadership to right things. That doesn't give current EMS management a free pass for the kind of gamesmanship that was clearly apparent in the shock and awe email that was sent out by the Deputy Chief.
ReplyDeletePeople aren't stupid. All the good news stories in the world won't cover up forever if EMS management is going down a bad path again. It was over-concern with PR and CYAing that debilitated Escambia EMS to begin with. A lot of people put their necks on the line to expose those bad actors. We didn't do it so another anger management tribe could game their way up the totem pole at the County while drive off good staff and throwing everybody other than themselves under the bus for it. Hopefully there's nothing to those rumors, and the recent whizbangs aren't diversions from a toxic workplace retaking its roots.
Anyone who supports Biden and Schumer and is that clueless and can't be trusted in any way shape or form to be considered an authority or to be truthful or able to discern anything right in front of their eyes then think they are a trusted source to interpret politics. Whether it is intentional deception or just pure unadulterated brainwashed babble bubbling up matters not.
ReplyDeleteThe Heritage foundation is attempting to educate the public about voting integrity but the news media clearly cares more about clicks than intelligent political discourse.
They have a dashboard at EMS now. OK, great.
Umm. Someone was passing fake certs in EMS. That is in the past. Unless the BOCC is still trying to win the false claims case. Why wouldn't they It did affect people up the chain of command.
Life is complicated, not in black and white.
Stop using race to divide Pino. It is a poor reflection on you.
Any one that watched Bidens pres conference and not seeing what they are trying to do is blind.
Federal elections, doing away with voted ID, doing away with signature match is not hurting any one's right to vote.
And it is the African American who won't simply call themselves Americans and who kneel and spit on the flag are the ones distinguishing themselves from being a united citizen of our county.
White liberal elites are trying to lead them by the nose for power for themselves and are willing to ruin the country in the process.
I'm done with them.
Voter ID and signature match explained on Heritage site. Election integrity is not suppressing the vote. Democrats are making themselves look like desperate fools. Even MLK Jr's children are joining Sharpton and the race grievance industry and trying to capitalize on their name. Playing the race card is not good for the country.
ReplyDeleteThe EMS public safety issues were complex. There is a lot of competition in the field now.
Move past those times.
As far as local races, one can probably throw their name in the hat and not be a drama queen and win the trust of constituents.
Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open mouth and remove all doubt. Too late for some.
I wear an Escambia EMS uniform. I'm proud of what I d0! I enjoy my job but some things need to change. The dashboard is a good start but the part on overdoses and MVAs is filler. The citizens, rightly so, want and deserve to know how many units are on shift. How many are BLS and how many are ALS ? Do we a manned IFT ( transfer) truck. Are we using a "driver only" (non transport) Sprint vehicle ? These numbers are readily available at any time. There also needs to be info on if we are "10-75" or holding emergency calls. How many and how long? Yes , we have gained some new paramedics but most are on nights. Day shifts get hammered hard and hold calls as well. Would also like to see how many units got hit with a late call, where they had to stay over an hour or two. There are other suggestions that this insider would love to bring to light , but the GOB mindset and hubris that ran rampant in other regimes still lives. Guess I'll remain silent for now.
ReplyDeleteYou are spot on. I appreciate what the EMS folks do but are handicapped by a lack of leadership at BOCC. It’s not a staffing issue. It’s a pay and resource priority issue.
DeleteUnless it shows response times which have been horrific then it’s not telling us much.
ReplyDeleteBiden is a warmongering fool. He will escalate a war with Russia to try to stay keep the dems in power. Saw that coming. That's what they do historically. FDR JFK and even Bush. Now you know why old soldiers like the MAGA not the liberal world order NATO agenda same old song and dance? We are not the world police. So does Nanc trade stock in arms deals?
ReplyDeleteEMS thanks for what you do. We are going to need you once they move into Cuba again and aim toward us.
Not far fetched.
How are you keeping people with Lifeguard offering a 15K bonus?. Gilley sure did a number on the department in a perioulous time. People put up with a lot for the promise of retirement. You don't arbitrarily fire people to solve a problem. You all did well getting past that debacle.
