After an action-packed Committee of the Whole yesterday, I am sure we will be discussing the hiring of Wes Moreno as our administrator next week. We will more than likely also discuss the Board's direction on issues of homelessness and the Contractor Competency Board--if time permits.
It should be a good discussion. When the podcast is published, I will link it here.
Great Podcast.
ReplyDeleteNo good applicants because no one wants to come and work for you! Regardless of whether or not Moreno is a nice guy or not , he doesn’t meet the county’s qualifications for the job. The job should be a CEO role and he doesn’t have the experience for that either
ReplyDeleteI was excited about Janice Gilley getting the job because I mistakenly believed she wanted to clean up corruption such as what was happening with the EMS cases. My reasoning was that no outside candidate could step into that mess and get their bearings without a 2-year learning curve.
ReplyDeleteJust because she ended up being a total disaster, it doesn't mean that someone with working knowledge of the County isn't best suited to fix problems over the next couple of years. I also feel better about it that Wes is already in drop, which means bulking up his high five wasn't part of the decision making process.
Here's hoping that with his position stabilized, he can really dig in on some areas that badly need it. Nobody knows why on earth the two administrative assistants are still in place, or what they do all day long (other than, in the case of one of them, meddle with procurements). And EMS needs a change-up in leadership in order to attract and retain the best talent, whether anybody wants to admit that or not.
Nobody knows better than Wes how much work he has cut out for him. No new applicant could have possibly grasped the depth and breadth of some of the issues. Most people wouldn't take that on for all the tea in China, so a lot of people are optimistic about Wes's official tenure. Fingers crossed hard for him that he will receive the support he needs from the commission to make the tough choices. He has a lot of them ahead.
First time ever Pino didn’t sound psycho
Delete722, You just don't know. You apparently have been hanging around the real psycho.
ReplyDeleteI was a little late watching the COW video, but watching the portion of Mr Moreno talking actually made me a little emotional, I know it was heart felt.
ReplyDeletePeople just coming in that look at local politics may not realize how much damage had been done to the organization.
I don't want to rehash the complicated blame game as just some anonymous commentary, however even commissioner Barry's words rang true also.
There is value for respecting the will of the board as a whole and owning up to mistakes. I understand to a point the difficulty of being in the public eye, and under scrutiny yet staying the course to get the job done and still live lives as fellow human beings.
I honestly hope you get new board member in D2 who will not continually try to disrespect the process and infect the community and organization as we have had to endure these past few years.
I know you can't endorse a candidate but hopefully who ever comes in won't do the same and a little more wisdom has been gained by all by meeting the challenges and working past them.
What did the county do about Mike Kohler nailing signs to trees at SW library?
ReplyDeleteEvidence on clear video on ECW. It is him.
Who enforces campaign violations?
Or blaring loudspeakers in neighborhoods on a Saturday morning?
ReplyDeleteSounds a bit bombastic and another *** neither rules nor manners apply *** type sailor.
Please D2,
Not. Again.
MK wanted his signs higher than everyone else's.
