Our previous Medical Director's status was unknown to many though.
Some had asked "Where is your previous Medical Director?" or "What is Edler's status?"
On one of my recent blog posts, one commenter even had a specific list of questions he/she wanted me to answer about the former Medical Director's current employment status (anonymous 3:39 in the comments of this post). Of course, I didn't answer because to do so would have been inappropriate. Plus, I wasn't sure what her status is/was. All I know is we have approved new Medical Directors and the feedback I have received has been all positive!
Meanwhile, in order to close the loop on what happened to the individual that used to hold that title--I asked for an update on her status.
I recently received a letter that is a public record that pretty much sums up what happened to our former Medical Director, Rayme Edler. Read it below.
She is no longer employed with the county.
About time. Someone should file a DOH complaint against her for abandoning her patients at the jail…
ReplyDeleteSo, what you are trying to say is you have had absolutely no clue as to what the status was of Dr. Edler? Nobody has taken the time to contact you for an administrative employee that hasn’t been to work in four weeks? You knew nothing?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 6:37--She's out, she's gone, she's been given the letter attached. That's what I know. What else do I know? Well, for starters I know our protocols have now been updated, 100%. I know the morale is improving now after having been decimated. I know we have installed leadership that is working and not a dysfunctional mess, and I know that EMS is improving with incentive bonuses for new hires and a fresh pay increase to boot. This is what I know. And yes, I also know the ominous, sinister complaints made against multiple employees appear to be evaporating quicker than the morning mist. So to recap for you, that's what I know. She's gone, and things are now getting done, and the organization as a whole is much better for it. That's what I know. Any other questions? (and one more thing: visualize a hot frying pan and realize the pan is your brain, and the egg cracked into the pan is your brain on disinformation.......)
ReplyDeleteThank you for clearing the air on this publicly, Commissioner Bergosh. With Jim Little on leave, it will be interesting to see if this gets coverage at the PNJ. Grateful to Rick Outzen for reporting on it as well.
ReplyDeleteThe County should pull her record of swipes into the jail if they want the true accounting of when the “abandonment” began. Then ask why she got a glowing evaluation from Chief Powell.
And the Public Safety building, for that matter, for attendance. In the second hearing during her frivolous suit against me, she claimed under oath that Jack Brown told her from the get-go that she only had to work 30 hours a week for the County in order to fulfill her dual roles as Medical Director of EMS and Medical Director for the jail. Something about how 10 of her hours a week at Baptist were crossover with the County.
I have no idea that was an agreement written in stone–I honestly don’t remember if her original contract stated that. As anyone familiar with the transcripts for that suit knows, just because she was speaking under oath doesn’t mean everything she said was true.
To Janice Gilley’s credit, I believe she did try to put a stop to the 30-hour nonsense. But she had no oversight anyway, and pretty much came and went as she pleased.
Disinformation? During the meeting, this evening you talked about how you knew county personnel was out overseeing flood issues, that you had been in contact with Moreno, and other county business yet you had absolutely no idea what was going on with the county’s medical director.
ReplyDeleteThanks for answering the questions. Please let us know when the lawsuit is conclused.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you may have more support with Perdido over flooding issues and the redistricting may go without a hitch...
except for some of the gadflies still circling Doug's anus like 637 and 632
did you all censure DD again? maybe informally in the exec session..
Anon 6:32, why aren't you asking these questions of the ECW brain trust? You know, the ones with the hotline to Edler.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's right. They are pretending her termination for job abandonment didn't happen.
Canceled her deposition on last case didn't continue. Now indigent and gagged. Way to go/s
ReplyDeleteStill hope you prevail on the false claim case.
ASA seems rogue. RICO.. Give me a break.
