I am one member of a five person board. The opinions I express on this forum are mine only, and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Escambia County Staff, Administrators, Employees, or anyone else associated with Escambia County Florida. I am interested in establishing this blog as a means of additional transparency to the public, outreach to the community, and information dissemination to all who choose to look. Feedback is welcome, but because public participation is equally encouraged, appropriate language and decorum is mandatory. Although this is not my campaign site for re-election--sometimes campaign related information will be discussed, therefore in an abundance of caution I add the following : Political Advertisement Paid for and Approved by Jeff Bergosh, Republican, for Escambia County Commissioner District 1

GLA Enrollment Surges Past 800--A.A. Dixon Holding Steady--- Under 130....

As of Wednesday, August 24th, the current enrollment at the district's newest elementary school, Global Learning Academy, is at 805.

A.A. Dixon Charter, the struggling start-up that assured the board that a projection centered around 230 students was realistic, is having a hard time even getting within 100 students of that projection;  Dixon stands at 129 students enrolled as of August 24th.

I am the kindergarten teacher at AA Dixon Charter school and I believe your numbers are off. I have 17 students in my class.

As an elected office I'm sure your efforts could be best spent doing your job rather than trying to destroy the lives of exceptional educators in order to line your pocket.
When all of these teachers lose their jobs will you, Mr. Bergosh, offer a way to feed their children.

Step your feet in the halls of A.A. Dixon to see the excellence. But I guess that would take away from you time to blog. Tax payer dollars at hard work.
