Guidelines
I have established this blog as a means of transparency to the public, outreach to the community, and information dissemination to all who choose to look. Feedback is welcome, but because public participation is equally encouraged, appropriate language and decorum is mandatory.

Will this meeting be live online or on Channel 4? If not, when will it be available?
I attended tonight’s meeting and wish if commissioner Bergosh is truly neutral about the initiative to incorporate Perdido; he would not comment when asked questions. It is pretty obvious how he feels!
I too attended the meeting tonight and Bergosh seemed neutral enough about the incorporation nonsense. What is the need for incorporation? The proposed new city wont have Fire, Police, Zoning control, public works, Parks & Rec.
I was blessed to receive a flyer on my car last night from the incorporation organizers.... Thanks for that. It clearly states the our only benefit is "A Seat at the Table you would otherwise not have and a voice at meetings to which you would never have been invited".
My question is this what is going to be decided at those meetings if the proposed new city does not have any control over Fire, Police, Zoning control, public works or Parks & Rec. It seems like this is just another layer of government with no real benefit to the citizens?
Anonymous 9:05-Thanks for attending the town hall--I appreciate your participation. I am neutral on the incorporation effort and I said that publicly---but if folks ask questions I will certainly answer. Anonymous 12:17--thanks for coming to the town hall and participating. I, too, got one of those flyers on my truck. I did not notice it until I was already driving. When I got home I took it off of the windshield and read it. I'm neutral on the effort--I have no business in the study area nor do I have property. As I said in the meeting--it makes my job easier if this effort succeeds and I can give the new city responsibility for Bauer Road and Perdido Key Drive. And the county does not lose one penny of ad valorem tax revenue--I said that and I stand by that because it is a fact. If the new effort at incorporation succeeds, they don't take any existing ad valorem revenue from us, they simply implement new tax levies (utilities, business) and add mills to the current tax bills, to fund their operations going forward. I am neutral but I want transparency and questions answered honestly. When I went to the last meeting with the consultant, they did not answer one (1) of my five pointed questions I submitted on their app. I'm told they did not answer many of these submitted questions. I'd only suggest to the incorporation folks this: If you want to enlist support--be 100% transparent, answer the tough questions unflinchingly, and don't belittle folks that ask devil's advocate questions, like I DO. And finally, as I said at the meeting publicly and as I have said multiple times previously---"What specific problem is this incorporation effort solving?" if the new city will not have its own fire service, schools, police force, zoning codes, roads, parks, code enforcement, or beach access points---what problem are they looking to solve? Saying "we can have control or (as seat at the table)" is insufficient, opaque, and feckless as an explanation, so far as I am concerned, if you are taking new money out of these folks as IS WILL BE THE CASE.
It solves not having to deal with self serving egomaniacs that run our county, that don’t live in our area, don’t understand our area and only in it to glorify their ego. If you spent as much time working On county efforts in perdido key, as you do slinging mud at your predecessor, the news journal, and basically anyone that does not agree with you, we would be so much further ahead – focus, Jeff, on what your job is.
