Bridge Naming Citizen's Input: Beall and James Are Top 2 Submissions....Plus lots of Other Names....
1,069 folks submitted input.
Removing duplicates, 804 unique individuals submitted names for the bridge.
Chappie James was the number 1 name selected
Philip D. Beall was the number 2 highest total.
Lots of other variations submitted, see chart above.
This information will be provided to the bridge naming committee--who knows, maybe they will just combine the #1 and #2 top picks for names and combine them to form the
"Chappie James-Philip D. Beall Memorial Bridge"
It will be interesting to watch how this goes.
Thanks to all citizens that participated and provided input!

Not even submitted but heard this one.. Reefer Bridge.. Yep Wildwood flower grew wild on the farm..never knewd what it was called..
Watched the live meeting. People are so ignorant of Gulf Coast history. Andrew Jackson should have taken Havana.
Alan Gray and Dosev are pukeworthy.
POS.
I'm not going so far as to say I harbor any personal ill-will toward Cris Dosev, Alan Gray, or any of the others who support Chappie James. I disagree with them when they push to tear a memorial designation away from the Beall family--because that isn't right. But to me it is not about Chappie James-- Hell, I support Chappie James getting a proper memorial--having the airport named after him like Louisville Kentucky did for their hometown hero, Muhammad Ali. If Louisville can do it, why can't Pensacola do this for Chappie? Naming Pensacola's airport for General James would be fantastic, a move the entire area would get behind and it would help visitors learn more about the man---a lot more than having his name on a plaque as people speed by on the bridge. The one interesting thing I must give Dosev a hat-tip for: He moved to town not too long ago, and suddenly he is the "Commanding Officer" of ALL retired military locally. He says do it, and retired O-6's hop to it. Even retired Admirals! It is interesting how he totally runs them, very interesting, they do precisely as he says and it is quite fascinating to watch. I have to hand it to him, he is persistent. Good for him.
No Dosev doesn't command retired ALL retired military. Not impressed. Carpet bagger. Scalawags. People are so afraid of the term racist but some of the ones supporting James are absolutely doing it for racist issues.
They started something they should have NOT..Like JARheads do.
It has started a good study in history though. Watched birth of a Nation, do you know you can hardly get that any more. Giving away 40 acres and a Mule sounds like socialism and it will break the economy about like what started to happen in South Carolina after the war of northern aggression was over.
