| Marlette Manipulation 8.0: "Dandy's Dumpster Fire" |
As I have done for nearly 10 years, on and off, I have once again found an instance where one of PNJ cartoonist Andy Marlette's cartoons completely misses the mark--so here it comes--Marlette Manipulation 8.0.
I think the one above that I have manipulated is a funny way to fix the one he published in the Friday edition. He takes a shot at me, I will take one back at him. After all, this all just humor, parody, and satire, right? It is all in good fun, right?!? He wants to insinuate stuff about me, so I will take a shot back at him too-- because--- who knows if he actually subscribes to "Bear" and "American Grizzly" Magazines, anyway? I think he might like that sort of wildlife--or maybe he only buys it to read the articles 😉....so....I'll just make a cartoon out of my suspicion like he does about me 😃
He sure dishes out a lot of vicious insults in his very vitriolic, acerbic cartoons, though. Wow. particularly toward our President and First Lady. (Funny how the previous President and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama, never really got the same level of hatred and disrespect in the Marlette cartoons about them and their leadership, neither do Pelosi, the Clintons, or Joe Biden....Interesting)
A couple of years back Jeremy Knipper, representing Andy Marlette, called me and said, "Yeah, Jeff, we're going to need you to take
down the cartoons that you manipulated and put on your site." I told him no. Then I pointed to the relevant court rulings on parody and use of copyrighted material.
I know he did not like that. Maybe he is still angry about that? I hope he got over it.
The PNJ IP address is a frequent visitor to my site according to statcounter, so I know they read it all the time. They call me and ask me about stuff I publish here, then they put it out in their paper--that's fine, I want them to.....(I put stuff I want on this blog, so it will get wider coverage, which it does when they get material for their outlets from my blog-which is what I want--see the way that works? It's like a predictable cycle)

But the cartoon goes further and becomes a tacit insinuation that I "caused" the fire, with my name being put on the dumpster. And just for kicks, he puts a hand-drawn confederate battle flag right next to my name--with the obvious, passive-aggressive intent of trying to stigmatize me somehow--to make me look bad.
Why, though? I'll just go ahead and admit it for him right here and right now--I WAS a huge fan of the show "The Dukes of Hazzard!"when I was a kid in the 1970's--who wasn't? Car chases, Daisey Duke, the General Lee--hell yeah I liked that show as a middle school boy! Is that what he was saying, maybe, with this cartoon??
uh, I doubt it.......
But people have asked me about it though and some even said what I was thinking, which is "Why that symbol?"
All fun aside, I think it is because Andy dislikes conservatives in general, and me in particular.
But I really don't know for sure. And really, who cares anyway? He will continue to do what he does, and I will continue to do what I do.
And yes, for the record, once and for all, when I see current pictures of the General Lee with the top of the car painted over ---- I do think it is ridiculous PC craziness run amok!

Marlette is weak He treats liberals and democrats with kid gloves and conservatives he hates and attacks with hateful propaganda. Marlette appears to like, possums, Bears and American Grizzlies. I'll admit it, I had no frame of reference to those things, but I shot coffee through my nose (thanks a lot) when I figured it out. He hates politicians, especially our state reps (all republicans, Boo-hoo) and our congressman (republican) and our governor (republican) (boo-hoo), but he celebrates himself and the liberal leftist, socialist left. Maybe he should move somewhere else. Marlette acts Like he and the PNJ are noble and honest brokers in all of this. BS! He is and they are partisan and way left of center. He's unelected, unwanted, and unliked in this area, but he prides himself on being some sort of journalist. He is nothing. I'll take a politician I can vote for or against and who will take my calls over Marlette and his elitist leftist, out of touch journalist ilk any day. Most of the the print journalist are the worst in society. Very few are honest. That is why they are becoming extinct. Gannett has an agenda to change the conservative area of Pensacola. Marlette's, the PNJ's and Gannett's use of rank propaganda (like the rebel flag here) is disgusting. They are repugnant and disgusting. I am glad you have a small way to respond, which I know they hate you (you can't make fun of my cartoons boo hoo. He would trample the constitution and fair use parody to stop you from manipulating his cartoons, because that is what elitist far left socialist do, In fact, I bet he contemplated suing you until some conservative business management lawyer told him he'd lose the case. Elitist left socialist-do as I say, not as I do). Your manipulation of his cartoons is great. The reptilicus Fake newsicus (AKA the Marlette snake) is one of the best ones. This one is good. The dumpster fire should have several cartoons. One could show one of the people saying "call the PNJ." The other would respond, "they won't come, they only report national news and infomercials for their local advertisers." Marlette would be saying, "The fire won't burn long, it's only the PNJ and the paper is so thin it will burn out in 10-seconds." That is funny and true, too. Fight the power.
Marlette is about the most idiotic character that attempts to insert himself into Escambia politics.
This was a low blow. He misrepresents that you are the one looking for solutions coming into the budget for the fire service.
The confederate flag detail makes HIM look like a turd chunker.
Consider the source.
Keep doing what you do. We love you! Hopefully all the chaos will be sorted out and the county will be better for it in the long run.
Marlette must think you are a really hot southern dude.. He shouldn't be so obvious with his affections toward you.
You are doing a good job, Jeff. You are rational, fair, and serve with integrity. You must be doing something right if you are the target of this Marlette character. Keep on representing the citizens in District 1 for the good of the county. You are in my prayers.

Everytime he tries to write an Escambia political editorial it makes him look even less informed. Noticed he tried to troll the ECW's --nobody hardly bit. Just didn't take his bait. I thinks it's fine you stood up to him but most know he basically has a screw loose, but he does draw well so tolerate him and hope maybe he will come up with something decent. even a blind squirrel gets an acorn every now and then.
If he would actually understand what was really going on in Escambia and make a satire that might be funny but he must not be really paying attention. He's picking on the wrong commissioner. He should make one with a tattle tale megaphone or something..Really though most of us that really pay attention are in support of the County and hope things will improve. They will.

Some of us actually know what the MYIP entailed. Not many are confronting him directly but there is a circulation of emails going around with his lies.
In fact it looks like he leaked the state inspection notice to media then is grandstanding pretending he ordered it when it was already ordered.
Are you going to let him get away with that? People's reputations are suffering more than necessary because of him trying to blow up his ego. The rank and file public service emplyees don't know what is going on outside of their myopic agenda, which is understandable. Stop the madness.
