I am one member of a five person board. The opinions I express on this forum are mine only, and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Escambia County Staff, Administrators, Employees, or anyone else associated with Escambia County Florida. I am interested in establishing this blog as a means of additional transparency to the public, outreach to the community, and information dissemination to all who choose to look. Feedback is welcome, but because public participation is equally encouraged, appropriate language and decorum is mandatory. Although this is not my campaign site for re-election--sometimes campaign related information will be discussed, therefore in an abundance of caution I add the following :

It's Time to Update the Social Media Policy Part II

The decade-old, obsolete commissioners' technology and social media policy is badly outdated and in need of an update.

So tomorrow I am bringing some suggested revisions.  As a part of the backup, we will have the original policy, the original policy with removed sections indicated via strikethrough, and added language indicated via underlined text.  Below is the working draft I will bring tomorrow with my initial suggested revisions.

It's time....

empty chair left to ignore Steven Barry's input at 12:26. He is referencing the June 22, 2017 agenda review also.

Buy yes during the update with Mrs Kilgore demonstrates a classic example of what we have been dealing with on social media and a member of the board running out ahead of actual problems that need to be dealt with as a board.

One hour and seventeen Barry attempts to have a reasonable discussion with Underhill. He points out that a reasonable person would think Underhill's narrative about the board was accurate and points out the responsibilities of a colleague and points out how Underhill is a bad colleague. If DU claims to know all this by asking hard questions ahead of time then he certainly hasn't done anything!!!

Underhill goes through the classic, deflect, call out that it about feelings, laughs at him, dodges the questions, says it's coming from a hate group..Who the GOBS? LOL but it's not really funny though, it is very destruction to the democratic process of the Board of Uscambia County Commissioners.

It Underhill claims he was aware of problems runs to the media, how is that suppose to impress anyone?

Barry got him. Why did DU not have the courage to bring it before the full board. This video needs to be clipped and played out as a prime example of trying to have a reasonable discussion with Underhill.

You sat there but it WAS an unexpected moment. I am looking forward to seeing this item on the agenda again.

He's so full of it, his eyes are brown.

On a different subject, I am hoping the full report from Janice Kilgore gets released. That includes the slideshows from this morning.

Late breaking

Just in the Sith Lordette has a copy of this. Actually, In the video of May9 meeting during this discussion when the empty chair gets up and huffs off.. prior to the adjourn. You can see huffypants in the bottom corner of the video-- trying to get ahead of yet another story..ROTFLMAO..Did you see him call out tree lady in front of them last week? what are they in his pocket or mancrush? sith lordette even roll his eyes then..yes you were on candid camera JL.

We know Trump likes nick names. The two in the photo bomb behind Mrs Kilgore --One is Cromagnon and the other is Sith lordette.

I know -- I know, don't tick off the media, Miss the Mark Marlette may try his hand.

Big Deal..Why can't they even cover the truth?

Agree that Barry scored a coup getting Underhill to admit he had discussed the EMS issues seven months ago, when Brown was still CA. Apart from the fact that it makes him part of the problem; it also makes him a liar, because he has publicly stated several times that he didn't know anything about the EMS problems until the PNJ blew it up.

How that escaped anyone's notice is a mystery. Wasn't that the final straw for Lavoy and Coughlin? That Underhill kept jumping in front of cameras claiming he didn't know anything?

How do you allow a member of your board to persist in operating with a perceived conflict of interest with the county, with the board he is elected to serve?

That needs to be turned over to the ethics committee, why don't you do that? Is everyone afraid of them?

He was involved with the lawsuits with the sector plan against the county and most likely against the BOA. I hate to call you all out but for the four of you to allow that to go on is not right, imo
You put it back on the voters, they reelected him. Ball is in your court and the far reaching implications of allowing this to continue are becoming apparent.

So we are getting reports the county employees aren't allowed to talk on social media. How do you think that contributes to morale and the health of the organization?

Basically with the coup that is happening in the county, if all the people involved that are being berated and manipulated are under a gag order, sure does help with the coup, wouldn't you think?

I guess the union firefighter and union people can talk but the "right to work people" don't have a voice or they risk being fired by the county. That's terrible. Please address that and lift the censorship and ban. I don't think Edler has been stifled. Has Lavoy and Weaver?

Search the International Association of Fire Fighters and The Right to Work legislature nationally. This is not an isolated incident. What is happening in Houston, TX?

Now if the PNJ is unable to effectively report a real story about this, then that is noted. If all local reporters can seem to do is parrot the sensational "People are going to die" fear factors and the video from last year, even though those two were fired, then Escambia Citizens are not getting the rest of the story.

It is starting to look like a few people have stirred up the pot for their own selfish interests and because it IS public safety if the BOCC attempts to look at it from a place of good stewardship of our money they will be demonized by the press and some who like to play the political rhetoric card.

Similar to the sheriff budget 2017, yet different, they make the BOCC out to be the "bad guys" and poor people can't get funeral escorts and so on. They get the funds and use it like they want then you don't hear another word.

They will probably push back on this blog. Let's see what unfolds.

Predictable some are.

Banning, Blocking, Censorship and Media Manipulation are their game. Will the BOCC continue to allow this?

Even the new guy on the board scoffs at the faux having to leave the dais during the HR discussion...and pointed out the hypocrisy of running to WEAR.

Lift the ban on county staff speaking on social media please--we want to know the rest of the story.

What up with one BOCC encryption on his phone? Yuck Do we really want to know?

Commissioner, I am disappointed in the turn of events at the Board meeting concerning this topic today. In the end, we have no Social Media policy or electronic use during meeting policy. So the behaviors that were of concern will go unaddressed? The Board is going to continue to accept the efforts to undermine the positions taken by the board as a whole and allow a member to cast aspersions on the rest of the board as they see fit, even while attending a meeting? Wow. As the old saying goes, be careful what you ask for......
