Escambia County's Mission is not a "Failure"

Watch the 30 second clip above to see my opinion on ANYONE that says our employees are a "failure" or that our mission is a "failure"
We had one heck of a Committee of the Whole on Thursday.  And we have been through a rough patch lately--I'll concede as much.

But there are also competing and diametrically opposed claims as it pertains to the EMS kerfuffle that is being sensationalized right now in the media-------and we can't talk about the other side of the coin legally.  This is incredibly frustrating but we are constrained from saying what we know so I won't say anything other than this:  Wait for all the facts to come out!!!

Yes, there were some issues, yes there are some issues----and these issues are being investigated and when the investigation is completed the BCC will take action and we will address the real problems that are confirmed.

Meanwhile--multiple issues are being dragged in, other issues are being conflated to include issues being investigated, and the most disappointing thing about all of this is the way it is being weaponized politically with leaks here and leaks there to keep the chaos and salaciousness factor high for the local press and TV station.

And to top it off we have folks in leadership saying the "mission is a failure" or "this is why we fail"

I'm done with folks kicking every rule-following, law-abiding employee of Escambia County in the  teeth with their inaccurate, in-artful, un-truthful characterization.

Here is the FACT:        The VAST majority of our employees are coming to work every day, doing their jobs professionally, and are innocent of any wrong-doing whatsoever.  Code enforcement, Solid waste, parks and rec, Animal Services, permitting, admin staff, etc. etc. and the list is long.

But now gasoline is being poured all over EVERY employee of the county by those who speak before

they think, say what they should not say, and stir the pot for their own purposes or for reasons I cannot understand.

And if left unchecked, this will have the insidious effect of pressing morale even lower than it is.  For my part I won't have it.  Just because a teacher shows up in a video throwing a student against a wall does not mean every teacher is bad and acts that way.  Just because we see a video of a police officer being abusive with an arrested suspect--obviously this does not mean every police officer acts that way.

Similarly--just because some folks are saying things and showing videos about Escambia EMS and FIRE does not mean that the vast majority of our employees are not doing great things every day.

They are!!!!

And so as I said loudly at the meeting in the above clip--I'm not hearing it anymore.  Enough!

How tribalism hurts
"Manage executive egos. An old consulting rule of thumb is to spot where the problem is occurring and then look one level above. Are your senior leaders sending the right messages around collaboration and cooperation? Are they being rewarded to do so? If your senior leadership isn’t displaying the behavior that is needed then it won’t happen at lower levels."

Whose ego, divide and conquer agenda, imagined fight with the Good Ole Boy's complex messaged on social media and run to the local media is destroying Escambia County?

The rhetoric may have been effective during a campaign in 2014, but now who is merely a cog in the wheel?

Work together or fall together. Or replace the broken spoke.

See, here' s the thing, Commissioner Bergosh. She has an M.D. and you don't. In fact, no one else in the whole country has an M.D. and even if someone does, they're not fit to treat a dog, especially if they graduated ahead of her. So, if she wants to sole source a contract out to some of her buddies, then you, the rest of the board, the procurement officer, the administrator, and the county attorney had better click your heels and start cutting checks, Get it? Otherwise, she'll be an expert plaintiff's witness for every lawsuit against the county for the next 20 years.

I've been surfing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It's pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you
did, the web will be much more useful than ever before.

Honestly some are reading between the lines, this has almost every thing to do with the FF union power plays. It's getting hot in here. Odd how one commissioner hates the union if it's ECAt and seems to love them, when he knows what is happening anyway..Run out in front and hold that Trophy DU.

Dear Dorrian Vance,

Per your comment "or if Mel Pino is write [sic] an anonymous [sic] now"

For the last year, I have been voicing my unvarnished opinions weekly at public meetings and daily on social media.

Read the anonymous comments above, Dorrian, and ask yourself if any of them express sentiments that are one whit stronger, or more unbridled in vehemence, than anything I have offered from the podium at BOCC meetings, in front of the dais and my fellow citizens, or on social media outlets such as Escambia Citizens Watch Free Speech.

Why on earth would you think that I would require anonymity in Commissioner Bergosh's blog comments?

But since you apparently think I need a cloak to speak what I mean, let me attempt to disabuse you of that notion.

You and Tony are probably okay people. Nonetheless, your fixation with OLF8 has the two of you completely unhinged, as most people reading your posts recognize.

And now that you have moved into frenemy status with Theresa Blackwell, you don't have even any idea which direction you're supposed to be pointing. So you spin with the competing gusts of hot air, because you can't find you own moral compass, and, quite frankly, about the only thing the two of you seem able to put your fingers on are your own belly buttons.

It's a good thing you've got the geographical fixation of The Ultimate Evil Whatever OLF8 Is driving your psyches and universal center, because otherwise, I'm not sure the two of you could go around the block, even holding hands tight, without a helpful Jacqueline Rogers tutorial on how to navigate it without stepping on the cracks and breaking the Sector Plan's back.

And I don't need a cloak of anonymity to voice the following: that hard-core Escambia Rose Airwaves band of Underhill cult worshippers is, hands down, the most vile, pernicious, slanderous, malignant, craven, near sociopathic, and widely detested bin of special interest jackals many of us have ever witnessed or encountered.

About this time last year, while right-thinking people would spit on the ground when they mentioned Escambia Citizens Watch, the sense was fatalistic and that there was nothing to be done about it.

Some of us decided it was time to change that.

All told, it has been a pretty successful year towards exposing Jacqueline, Doug, and their gape-jawed, dead- eyed squad of Bingo Warriors for what they are. Their sway is thankfully dwindling every day, nearing its nadir, and it won't bounce back.

And then you and Tony will have to find another Isle of Misfit Toys to cultivate. Maybe you can get an equivalent built into the Master Plan.

Make no mistake though, Dorrian, even if the design for OLF8 exceeds your wildest dreams, you'll still have to deal with the seering personal offense of people who throw cups on the ground.

I know it's difficult for your type not to have control over the hoi polloi and the homeless, and that must be really hard. But perhaps you could take comfort in a symbolic gate, of the type that that those of us who actually come from real farm country don't recognize as having much use.

I'd be happy to provide my non-anonymous viewpoint on your posts any time here, Dorrian. Just drop my name. Please do give me the courtesy of letting me know you've done it, however. It's the civil thing to do.

Melissa Pino
