At a lunch I attended Friday afternoon with two advertising executives, a discussion of media honesty and integrity began----- even before we talked about the real reason for the meeting which was an altogether different topic....
"I cannot believe they did that to you--I'm pissed off!" stated one attendee. "I'm thinking about pulling my advertising with them!" The other reaction I got from another attendee was somewhat more measured---but equally illuminating. "They did this on purpose--no doubt."
I knew immediately what they were talking about. "How did you all know?" I asked. "We are getting calls about it from people that are calling B.S. on it--plus we saw it" was the joint response from the gentlemen sitting at my table.
I knew what happened and tried to get it fixed as quickly as I could earlier that morning--but obviously it didn't get fixed quickly enough. "If they saw it online---how many others did as well?" I thought out loud...

HOW THE PENSACOLA NEWS JOURNAL PRESENTED THIS
At around 6:00AM Friday, this story was online at the Pensacola News Journal's site covering this request for an ethics investigation. It was accompanied by my picture--which with the corresponding headline "Bergosh says another commissioner leaked confidential documents; seeks ethics investigation" was fine. No problem, so far, so good.

HOW I ATTEMPTED TO GET IT FIXED
Horrified-- I called the PNJ Editor Lisa Savage immediately and explained what was going on and why it needed to get fixed. To her credit, she acknowledged it was problematic and said she would get if fixed. "Thanks for letting me know. Maggie is changing it right now to a different picture" stated Savage. I suggested "How about something fair like "Bergosh requests investigation over Leaked Documents" to which I did not receive a reply. I assumed it was being corrected-- but hours later, I realized it had not been completely fixed....At 10:30 I saw that on the sidebar of the PNJ under "more stories" it still had my picture and the headline "Commissioner allegedly leaked confidential legal documents" Once again I contacted executive editor Savage, at 10:34 AM and told her it still was not corrected....."Yes, [Maggie] is working on fixing that" was the editor's reply this time. How long should that fix have taken though?!?
WHAT FINALLY HAPPENED?
After my luncheon ended, I once again checked the PNJ site and they had by that time left the headline in place "Commissioner allegedly leaked confidential legal documents" but had finally pulled down my picture and replaced it with an Escambia County logo (Which I had actually suggested Lisa Savage do on our phone call from earlier in the morning when I first tried to get this corrected).
But how many people saw the misleading headline that was up for hours, how many readers were left with the inaccurate impression (due to the false light in which I was portrayed by the PNJ) that I leaked classified documents? I am in a hotly-contested primary election with votes beginning to be cast within 60 days---so this sort of portrayal is damaging. Why did it happen, though? Why did it take hours to fix once it was brought to PNJ's attention?
More than one person I have spoken with believe it was on purpose. One in particular had a terse response:
"Come on Jeff--if they wanted to fix it they could have gone into their program and fixed it immediately and easily.."

The problem is ECUA is supposed to take over the systems and not put it on the backs of home owners. Why would the entire board in 2014 under Jack Brown allow that to begin with? Why has the county put these on MSBUS at all? Charge homeowners an MSBU then charge them to run it. Looks like exactly what Larry Walker in D5 ECUA is trying to do with the system that services the prison there, in D5 with Barry in agreement.. except those residents won't be able to pay an MSBU so the sent in the CTA folks. Fine. Get it done.
New people looking in have to know Escambia Citizens Watch facebook has systematically kicked off people who speak out against Underhill and Underhill want to get his aide Owen on the board for a voting block for his special interests. It is also a propaganda site, hence the Tokyo (escambia) Rose designation. (and her posting a rose) If people speak out against Underhill he uses people to sue them and calls the sheriff on them and runs code enforcement and uses other intimidation tactics. Many are sick to death of energizer bunny blabber mouth politics though. And ordinary citizens can't afford to pay the price.
So yes this is a D1 issue because of Owens and Bergosh. Uninformed want Owens because of smooth talking Underhill, pretending he supports the little guy, he doesn't.
The PNJ usually is clueless and perhaps the editor is just a stupid leftie that hates the country like all the other leftists. and media, Or Studer tells them what to do perhaps, IDK.
Northescambia is also a good example of this. Ambulance chaser who tries to decimate the small town folks in Century and leaves out most of the truth and allows comments to denigrate others. For instance the budget was legible, Did he do that to the copy himself and make a story about it four days later. probably, yet people fall for it and spread the misinformation like sheep.
The world is full of self righteous people who think they know it all and have far removed themselves from what our country is about. Yet keep on typing..
An yes, it's a pandemic, more will get the virus and numbers will go up and it depends on individuals actions.. The economy has to open. Black and white thinkers show thrie disorder.

The RESTORE was voted on by all the commissioners in the MYIP to treasury originally but Underhill failed to follow through with plans. It was not intended as a portal to funnel more dollars to purchase more access he is a LIAR LIAR LIAR.
That was purchased in 2013 for access and the Restore was supposed to have been used to enhance that spot and also to be made ADA compliant.
Underhill the more you tell a lie does not make it true and shame on that woman for supporting his lies. We see you. What a disgrace to the truth.

Perhaps Underhill and Owens travel expenses to Tallahassee didn't pay off as HB 3991 2017 for Innerarity Sewer was dropped then as chairman he slipped those ordinances through for the MSBU but were more than the $500 annual first messaged. He is trying to get out in front defect blame on the other four commissioners as usual but yes why in 2014 would the county be involved in what ECUA is responsible for to begin with. I didn't read the transcripts but just after watching him, his ilk and his failures that is what appears is happening. No need to get on Facebook because they will try to find a way to retaliate. Underhill and ilk are bad news all around. Our county is so unfortunate D2 put him on the board again in 2018./To get his aide in another seat would be a disaster, however spend a few minutes with a voter and be afraid. Commissioner, you seem to be under the impression that you're the only politician who is working the folks over at the PNJ or WEAR. Underhill has half the staff of both places on speed dial and is constantly feeding them stuff. They defer to him because he gives them access and content.
Not saying he's behind the misplacement of your picture, but leaking info to put you , the other commissioners or staff members in a bad light is pretty much his SOP.
He uses his personal accounts for this, so these contacts are not subject to PR requests and of course the media outlets don't have to hand them over. Make no mistake, Commissioner, anything he has access to, the PNJ, WEARTV, and of course, that Underhill/ Rogers Facebook group will have access to it as well.
You feed the press the most information about the county through your Blog. They visit there every day, several times a day. The other commissioners do not have the same affect on the news as you do because their media footprint is much smaller. Now, the PNJ, they like drama, so they pit you all against each other. You are the personification of a Trump type politician. You punch them in the face with your cartoon manipulations and blog criticisms. Make no mistake, they hate you and want you gone. Underhand (and his girl secretary, too) they don't like either, but he doesn't defy them like you do with your cartoons and Blog. The PNJ is far, far left in a far right community. They hope to change the area. It is a race between their demise due to social media or the conservative demise due to social denigration: free on demand abortion, universal basic income (augmented with crime, e.g., selling drugs, black market selling, fraud against the government for more entitlements), thought control (fake news), bullying, etc.
I don't understand why Underhill did not reveal he was the one who leaked the documents. He had several opportunities to do so. I think he had to think about his excuse why and work backwards. Underhiss not proclaiming he released the information at the several County Commission meetings is him being the "P" word he likes to use so much (that someone smarter had to give him). "Pusillanimous." That's right, the combat actionless ribbon self proclaimed "Combat" naval officer who hides behind and has his wife defend him when he uses the derogatory "P" word against his constituents (you can't make this stuff up) to explain that term is short for "Pusillanimous." Yeah, right. Only the PNJs far left loony Lisa "I'm not far right like Michael" Savage, buys that nonsense. I saw the WEAR Channel 3 story last night and it chronicles well "Combat Cobra Kai" Underhill's issue here. Of course, Nylander tries to reach war hero underhill for a statement, but neither he or his secretary care to respond. Again, the sophisticated/smart "P word" evident from Underhiss. The worst part in all of this is he deleted all of the posts he made about releasing the information to anyone (after the facts came out)...care to say destruction of public records. It's not the politicians actions that ruin them, it's how they respond. What happens to his reserve naval career with all of his underhand (ed) actions. His favorite rapper Big Boi knows. BOI. Think Naval not urban dictionary mostly.
