I am interested in establishing this blog as a means of additional transparency to the public, outreach to the community, and information dissemination to all who choose to look. Feedback is welcome, but because public participation is equally encouraged, appropriate language and decorum is mandatory. Why are you using ARP money for broadband when there is money in the federal infrastructure package specifically for broadband. Why are you not getting that funding and freeing up $22 million for other critical needs?

Commissioner Barry started that initiative early on for Broadband -- documenting the need during the early phases of lockdowns in the pandemic because some people in his district could not work from home, nor do the remote schooling.

Government wheels roll slowly, yet that was an immediate pressing need for his district, and may well be again. Glad the other board members with sense are supporting the initiative.

You can't keep changing courses after votes. No one wants wishey washy.

I think it is appropriate, but perhaps hand it off to the private sector after the first build out. To me, it could be a great example of public/private partnership working on actual solutions to problems.

No one is denying the need but if there are a better source of funds available then it makes no sense not to get those $ and use this money for something else

Hey Bergosh No snarky comments on the broadband deal or is that just another indefensible position and you would rather ignore it than tell the truth

Anonymous--8:39 No snarky comments because I support the effort and the direction we are going with respect to splitting the project into a North and South phase. There are a lot of areas of the county that desperately need this----including large parts of district 1.

That is not the point Commissioner. Everyone supports the project. The question however is the source of funding. Why is Escambia county not getting funds from the federal infrastructure package and therefore freeing up the 22 million from the American rescue plan to be use for other needs

And crickets from Bergosh over the source of funding. Santa Rosa received the funds. BOCC asleep at the switch again

One an tell how Bergosh thinks by his votes, not interrogatory bullying, have you not learned people tune that shit out?
You are also making a fool out of yourself with the ??? about Lumon May. See Rick's blog for clarity.

That may be why you are not invited to serve on boards.

@727
It is AR funds being used for this. Pay attention.
