I am one member of a five person board. The opinions I express on this forum are mine only, and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Escambia County Staff, Administrators, Employees, or anyone else associated with Escambia County Florida. I am interested in establishing this blog as a means of additional transparency to the public, outreach to the community, and information dissemination to all who choose to look. Feedback is welcome, but because public participation is equally encouraged, appropriate language and decorum is mandatory. Although this is not my campaign site for re-election--sometimes campaign related information will be discussed, therefore in an abundance of caution I add the following : Political Advertisement Paid for and Approved by Jeff Bergosh, Republican, for Escambia County Commissioner District 1

Concurrency?

As I stated in a recent meeting, and as I prominently featured in my NEXT4Escambia plan as I ran for re-election last year, I will be bringing the topic of concurrency forward at an upcoming meeting for discussion among my peers on the Board of County Commissioners.

As a local school board member here for 10 years , I supported the concept of concurrency and voted for it on several occasions until it was watered down to a point that it was ineffective and meaningless--at which point I voted against it on principle.

I have no idea, whatsoever, where my counterparts on the BCC stand on this isssue--so at the first meeting where this is brought the topic will be brief, factual, historical and then I'll attempt to ascertain from my peers what their appetite is for moving forward with having staff bring recommendations.

This initial discussion will likely occur at the first meeting in May.

Jim Little from the PNJ called me about this topic about a week ago, and we had a really good conversation.  His article derived from that discussion is online today and will more than likely make it to the printed paper in the next few days.  It is a good article and captures the essence of our discussion.

I agree with those in the homebuilding community who believe that we can do more with the LOST funds we already have (for which they lobbied and assisted in campaigning for when the referendum(s) were put before the voters)--and it is for that reason and others that I generally oppose impact fees across the board for the county in favor of intelligent, well thought-through concurrency. (Although I will support impact fees and an enhanced MSBU/and or a TIFF on our soon to be developed OLF-8 property---as it now appears it will be largely retail and residential which will reduce our opportunity for and the size of a Triumph Gulf Coast jobs grant).

So we shall see where the concurrency discussion goes in May.  It may be something that sparks interest or it may just fizzle......

Commissioner Bergosh, Did you bring it up and how did it go?

I was busy digesting the US house vote to make Washington DC a state. You, know the tyrannical taker over of the United States of America. Not to be a dark cloud but they will have to house all the illegal migrants somewhere. Better get a buyer for OLF 8 soon or I predict a federal encampment. What a shame how effing stupid democrat voters are. On a local notice ECW didn't bring this up.. Not surprised.

Wear brought up the flooding and also that the Admin still apparently ignore ECAT sexual harassment concerns.

Keep your eye on the big picture. The democrats are attempting to make America a one party dictatorship and apparently most of the citizens are gullible or unaware or want a part of it. Next the electoral college -- Hard to watch so many gullible people willfully going along susceptible to the agenda against there own self interest.

History repeats itself.

Concurrency probably should never have been removed from the CP. Thanks for bringing it up.

On a completely different concern. Have you looked at Escambia votes website at all the candidates running for Mayor of Pensacola this far out?

At this point I support Morgan simply because I want a past sheriff to be in charge, Even if he did play dupe the welsh game and more.

I am nauseated beyond tolerance of the push of allowing criminals, communists and race hustlers to run the agenda, the county, the media, social media or the country. Woke is broke.
I think Robinson meant well and did good to not stop the Bay view cross from going to SCOTUS and tried to keep the peace with BLM Marxists. Removing the monument to confederate veterans was wrong. Hope the Five flags festival has a revival and the Freak nasty doesn't get out of hand in the future.

Don't be afraid to be yourself.

PNJ ran a story and the editorial board ran an opinion piece -- last I looked ECW/fb didn't post either HAHAHA.. I thought that's what they were "All about" I guess they are still letting DU post about water under the bridge...

I didn't know Rick Scott removed concurrency at the state level back in the day after Obama bail out/bust.

Too bad Biden policies are causing companies to go south of the border and ruin the gains the America First (MAGA) corporate tax cuts were encouraging.

Happy May Day, it's not all about Beltane and Flowers, the communists are rioting again.

I hope you are not sucking up to MP for D2 Escambia although I understand no one wants to be the next target of blame. everything WKU says about her being HCP is apparent yet vise versa. They are all alike.

However Mel and Rick O also qualify as being PeckerGnats with their new found obsession with Matt Gaetz.

Funny thing how they try to smear when MAGA as a whole isn't obsessed with people's concerns below the belt. Way to dumb down America.
