What is our Local Media Requesting from the County Daily?

A few weeks back I spoke with PIO Laura Coale about some issues that came out in the press of which I wasn't aware.  I felt somewhat blindsided--which is natural given that this is a big county with lots of issues swirling around.  So we discussed how this could be dealt with, so Commissioners would be aware of the stories local journalists are hunting down on a regular basis.  "At my last job I used to send out a recap daily of what was requested of the office--should I start doing something like that here?" she asked.

Of course, I said "Yes."  Apparently, subsequently and after our conversation Laure Coale got the go-ahead from admin to begin providing updates.

So for the last several days the commissioners have been recieving daily updates on what the media is requesting and what they are receiving.  It is interesting.  Here, below, is what the news outlets and others were requesting of our PIO yesterday:

Media Contacts:

  • Randy Wood, WEAR-TV, asked what Eric Gilmore's salary as new public safety director will be and if he will be both Public Safety Director and Public Safety Manager.

It appears the press release to Andy Marlette was written by Underhill. Notice they put your picture up there when in fact, you were the first to ask the question. "Is this legal?"

Essentially if we stay away from the cartoonist at PNJ, most editorials, opinions and facebook we will be fine.

Opinions are like a$$holes, everybody's got one.

The agenda is posted for the next meeting. It looks clear concise and in a way, rather boring.

That's the way the county government should be run. There is clear concise info on the myescambia website also.

Basically if people will just look there and avoid the ones who like to kick up drama conflict and dust, much more work can be accomplished.

Note the retirement plan isn't on the agenda, because why? Because that is not to be discussed in a public meeting, there is no reason for that. Maybe Lam can stay in her lane.

Hey Underhill, no body cares about your vendetta, they still aren't going to pay your legal fees.

Why there is so much distain for ECW is because he used that to mock, lie, embarrass, speak ill of the other elected officials. Sure, he has had push back here.

I couldn't believe it when I came here and saw one acting like that. A sissy pansy bully and finally Bear had enough money to say ENOUGH. He did it to himself.

Was that Moral, ethical or EXPEDIENT D2? Hit the road jack, don't ya come back.

I notice most of the journalists don't care about the nit picky personal conflicts at the board.

To be fair

The COVID increasing is a concern, to say the least. People have to find the best way to convey information without causing others to get defensive. Stop politicizing everything.

Stop arguing and go to problem solving.

Actually Biden's policies are not working at the border either.

We are vaccinated, we are retired so we don't have to get in the mix except to get groceries and I've found I don't mind wearing a mask and getting in and out without having to talk to anyone.

We have worn masks and kept to ourselves for over a year, sure we had started to loosen up and actually spent the time going to medical appointments we had missed.

We want to live and for us living is staying home.

Others have a different lifestyle and concerns. I think everything should stay open.

It seemed WEAR reported facts about it today.

Vaccine clinics are reopening.

This variant is more contagious than the original. I think it will effect the younger ones more, like chicken pox spreading through the groups. If people can homeschool, it wouldn't hurt but others can make their own decisions.

Shaming and blaming does no good at all, it is harmful, not helpful.

2:34, which press release was written by commissioner underhill?

Anonymous said...

The PNJ posted a Marlette opinion for subscribers only where he has the commissioners on a wheel of fugitives. The wording sounds exactly like what Underhill has posted on 850 and ECW the last few days. Basically calling his other board members and the attorney criminals.
Perhaps Andy or someone else picked up the talking points. I didn't read it because it's for subscribers and I don't pay the dollar for 6 month and just open an incognito tab and read most of the articles. Some else else broke it out.

I almost don't want to give him more press but here it is: I sounds just like what Underhill says..

“We know Rogers was writing on behalf of Barry. We know what would have been a beneficial outcome for both of them. But why wasn't anybody there to speak on behalf of what was best for taxpayers? Especially when what's so obviously best for taxpayers is not stroking out checks to help guys like Steven Barry and Lumon May to get rich off the backs of citizens of this county.
See, as long as we're dissecting the legality of the annuity payments to county commissioners, maybe someone needs to take a look at what Barry and Rogers presented to the state Ethics Commission, as well. Is it legal to claim you represent the citizens of Escambia County when we all now know that was never the case?
Here's the thing about attorneys and "legality" — you can always find one to argue something's legal, no matter how absurd or offensive the argument is, as long as there's a cash-spending client paying for it.
Which is why in matters of the public trust, "moral" and "ethical" are often far more important standards to meet than simply "legal."
Was it "ethical" for Rogers to use her title to falsely make it seem as if she was representing the citizens of Escambia County?
Was it "moral" for Barry to secretly seek permission for personally-enriching paychecks from a Tallahassee board, rather than present the issue honestly and directly to the citizens of Escambia County?”

Underhill spins to his dazed followers "Is it moral -- is it ethical" virtue signaling while at the same time he tries to get his own things pushed through sometimes under the table. (remember the multiuse path, trying to get it in the LOST fund unvoted on.. I do, so does the board and a few others 2 M)

He really doesn't seem like he has been doing any work lately though, except answering legal motions and cleaning up his flooded home, {after he loudly boasted at one times he was sick of hearing about hurricanes and the call for people need to be ready.. you know stick his foot in his mouth}

Yet still trying to discredit his board members in 2021-- which is his legacy and also his downfall.

Barry has the screenshots of what he was posting about the attorney and the board.

How's that going to work when Underhill tries to get a motion on his legal fees... not very effectively, I would say.

Bear put it well, Underhill is trying to win in the court of public opinion.

Most know he is the jester.

Sounds just like commissioner underhill. With Covid cases rising again the retirement stuff is not that big of a deal. It was legal. Done and done.

Anonymous said...

Honestly, just one voice out here, if your insurance pays Underhill's fees, he sweated it out enough.

Barry and them got greedy with the settlement thing. Yes they got smacked backed.

We all see it.

Move on.

Get over yourselves.

Pave a road..etc

This may seem rude and I will sign out..now

enough D*ck swinging between the BCC.

do your job.

Actually Bergosh, I think you do more than the others.. although I'm still wondering if you can get the MSTU by good...or are you just throwing pasta to the wall to see if it's aldente..will stick.

as rude as you are (and let some us us be)on here though, I think we are alike in some ways..

Get the job done, be nice in public..

Lawd I hope nobody sues me like your medical director did with ECW and Underhill..rough bunch..

Glad my IP says I'm in Berlin or Tokyo.. or wherever..we don't post anonymously because we want you to remember our name

About vaccine hesitancy from the linked article above.

"As soon as you start jamming stuff down somebody's throat, they quit listening to you because they think you're not listening to them," he said. "So what I found is just to be a person and say, 'I'm looking at you in the eyes,' I'm here for you, and I want to listen to what what's going on with you, and you tell me, please, what is it that's geting you afraid?' … Try and really understand it, put yourself in their place and then on an individual basis, address their individual fear."

Jacqueline Aimee Rogers, the everloving Underhill suck a$$ posted the Marlette opinion on Escambia Citizens Watch also and published more of it. Vile creatures they have become, like Gollum down in the cave..

Whispering in that nasty hoarse voice.. "My Precious"
It must have been a collaborative effort.

At least a few people spoke up about it.

CSI lover you joke but thats a episode no one would be surprised to see…Jacqueline Sean Alex and Joel have Melissa on the brain syndrome….They’re as addicted to her as they are the internet….Their lives would be meaningless without her and Jeff to obsesss over….The mission is to stay online to make sure no one can have their own opinion like cult leaders….

CSI fan, I said something similar recently.they probably rummage through her garbage can at night to get information about her. I think we’re going to see them on the news going postal with their pitchforks and torches during the election. You think they’re lunatics now? You ain’t seen nothing yet. Jacqueline Rogers has been Commissioner Underhill’s obsessed puppet for 8 years she’ll lose what’s left of her mean mind if Melissa Pino wins.

I like how this blog is being used right now by bullying victims to give the adult bullies a taste of their own medicine.

What Constitutes an Adult Bully?
What defines an adult bully is if they regularly make you feel oppressed, dominated and controlled, belittled, humiliated, and publicly shamed.

Jacqueline Rogers and gang oppress opinions that are different than theirs.

Jacqueline Rogers and gang dominate and control the dialogue on ECW.

Jacqueline Rogers and gang belittle their victims.

Jacqueline Rogers and gang humiliate the people that disagree with them to publicly shame them into not voicing their opinion ever again.

Here is a good non political recent article on COVID Delta Variant. Recommended read

https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/5-things-to-know-delta-variant-covid

1. Delta is more contagious than the other virus strains.
2. Unvaccinated people are at risk.
3. Delta could lead to 'hyperlocal outbreaks.'
4. There is still more to learn about Delta.
5. Vaccination is the best protection against Delta.

The most important thing you can do to protect yourself from Delta is to get fully vaccinated, the doctors say. At this point, that means if you get a two-dose vaccine like Pfizer or Moderna, for example, you must get both shots and then wait the recommended two-week period for those shots to take full effect. Whether or not you are vaccinated, it’s also important to follow CDC prevention guidelines that are available for vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

“Like everything in life, this is an ongoing risk assessment,” says Dr. Yildirim. “If it is sunny and you’ll be outdoors, you put on sunscreen. If you are in a crowded gathering, potentially with unvaccinated people, you put your mask on and keep social distancing. If you are unvaccinated and eligible for the vaccine, the best thing you can do is to get vaccinated.”

Face masks can provide additional protection and the WHO has encouraged mask-wearing even among vaccinated people. The CDC updated its guidance in July to recommend that both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals wear masks in public indoor settings in areas of high transmission to help prevent Delta’s spread and to protect others, especially those who are immuno-compromised, unvaccinated, or at risk for severe disease. The agency is also recommending universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to K-12 schools.

Of course, there are many people who cannot get the vaccine, because their doctor has advised them against it for health reasons or because personal logistics or difficulties have created roadblocks—or they may choose not to get it. Will the Delta variant be enough to encourage those who can get vaccinated to do so? No one knows for sure, but it’s possible, says Dr. Wilson, who encourages anyone who has questions about vaccination to talk to their family doctor.

“When there are local outbreaks, vaccine rates go up,” Dr. Wilson says. “We know that if someone you know gets really sick and goes to the hospital, it can change your risk calculus a little bit. That could start happening more. I’m hopeful we see vaccine rates go up.”

Originally published: June 28, 2021. Updated: July 30, 2021.]

For the first time in more than a year, we’re feeling some hope—or at least cautious optimism—that the pandemic could recede to the background. But there is still a concern that new mutations of the virus could bring it back, and it might be even stronger.

A major worry right now is Delta, a highly contagious SARS-CoV-2 virus strain, which was first identified in India in December. It then swept rapidly through that country and Great Britain before reaching the U.S., where it is now the dominant variant.

The CDC described Delta as more transmissible than the common cold and influenza, as well as the viruses that cause Ebola, smallpox, MERS, and SARS, Ebola—and called it as contagious as chickenpox in an internal document, a copy of which was obtained by and reported on in The New York Times. The highest spread of cases and severe outcomes is happening in places with low vaccination rates, and virtually all hospitalizations and deaths have been among the unvaccinated, the CDC says.

Inci Yildirim, MD, PhD, a Yale Medicine pediatric infectious diseases specialist and a vaccinologist, isn’t surprised by what’s happening. “All viruses evolve over time and undergo changes as they spread and replicate,” she says.

But one thing that is unique about Delta is how quickly it is spreading, says F. Perry Wilson, MD, a Yale Medicine epidemiologist. Around the world, he says, “Delta will certainly accelerate the pandemic.”

From what we know so far, people who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus appear to have protection against Delta, but anyone who is unvaccinated and not practicing preventive strategies is at risk for infection by the new variant, the doctors say.

Here are five things you need to know about the Delta variant.
