I am one member of a five person board. The opinions I express on this forum are mine only, and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Escambia County Staff, Administrators, Employees, or anyone else associated with Escambia County Florida. I am interested in establishing this blog as a means of additional transparency to the public, outreach to the community, and information dissemination to all who choose to look. Feedback is welcome, but because public participation is equally encouraged, appropriate language and decorum is mandatory. Although this is not my campaign site for re-election--sometimes campaign related information will be discussed, therefore in an abundance of caution I add the following : Political Advertisement Paid for and Approved by Jeff Bergosh, Republican, for Escambia County Commissioner District 1

County Administrator Search: 28 Total Applicants, 13 finalists divided into 2 Tiers, to be Presented to Board this Thursday

This Thursday morning we will be given a report from GovHR-- the firm that is conducting our Administrator Search.  My understanding is that we will be getting a full report, a full package with the names of all 28  applicants from 15 states, and the complete resumes for the 13 applicants that are considered finalists, broken into two tiers.

My understanding is that this information will be provided to the public as well, after appropriate redactions are made.

This information will be brought forward by County Attorney Alison Rogers for discussion by the board.

This Thursday morning at the committee of the whole.

Should be a good discussion, and my prediction is it will be a short discussion.

I love your cryptic pictorial metaphors, the first rebuild after the storm is often waffle house.

You all did well to keep Moreno for awhile.

Appreciate the heads up. 4

Will never get anyone competent to work for the Board of County Clowns. Turnover has been incredible

7:30 you are at the wrong site--you obviously meant to head over to the facebook hatewatch site, where you fit right in. Meanwhile, the adults continue the work over here while folks like you sit at home in your robes banging away at the keyboard all day long, lamenting your empty lives, longing for the "glory days" a la Bruce Springsteen while life goes on without you in it. What a sad spectacle your existence must be...... and to your point--turnover happens when necessary. In case you hadn't noticed, things are stabilizing quite well over the last year or so.

Dorothy wake up!! We are one of the poorest counties in FL and lag behind neighboring counties and the STATE in every economic area! Stabilizing where?

I hope you keep to the process and don't circumvent to allow other commissioners to add friends like that last time. I believe you were the only one to stay the course yet unfortunately were a vote of 1 for the experienced man from the midwest, if I remember correctly.
It would have been a difficult time for anyone, with the destruction commissioner, destructive medical director, COVID, bad HR hires. I'm glad to see things stabilized under the level headed experience of Moreno. He may be eligible to retire soon.

I think if he wanted the job, no reason not to keep, him though.

I am a little leary of one of the new D2 candidates. He says he can hit the floor with the ability to change everything, paraphrased and talks a lot about himself, Surely he can't be as bad as the last one but he will be one to watch out for.

You are right about facebook, it is toxic. The real news doesn't make the cut most of the time.

For this to remain confidential, as usual, someone already spilled the beans.
I hope you hire an experienced COUNTY Government Administrator. And Vet them, look them up.

I can speak from personal experience to counter ECW Underhill press secretary -- just because someone is in the Army over an entire program in Europe, that lends NO experience knowing how to deal in the civilian life as public servant under FL Statutes. In fact it is a detriment.

Sounds impressive but if they don't understand Sunshine laws and depend on navigating the gray area and rank then they can't manage all the moving parts of working with legislative boards, unions, the press, facebook activists, and the public, especially this area of the country.

I trust your judgment on this one.Hope you lead.

You all really do need to put some of those protections
back into the LDC. also.

The county site has this on the agenda and says it is redacted but it isn't as far as I can tell. It says these names are to remain confidential but there they are on a link to the agenda.

Seriously, The resumes, email, addresses phone numbers are published on the COW agenda when clearly it says they are to,remain confidential. Some of them may wish to retain their employment. Don't open the county up to yet another lawsuit. Who puts the agenda together? Incompetence needs to stop.

Funny, someone works at waffle house thinks that they can be a county administrator.

Document can be downloaded. FYI.

Jeff Bergosh said...

1:02--The redaction was for one applicant that was formerly a law enforcement officer or affiliated, and that applicant's information was supposed to be redacted, that is what I was told. And no, I do not believe it was the Waffle House employee that applied......

OK, on the beginning of the document it said the info was supposed to be confidential in respect for the applicants in case they didn't wish their present employer to know they applied for outside employment. I know at some point it is in the sunshine but it is on the first page that it is to be confidential. I know there are limits to transparency.

That went as planned. Bergosh and Barry talk with Moreno prior to the meeting and want him to take the job. During the meeting they make the recommendation and Moreno accepts. Next week they will vote to hire him as the permanent county administrator. Don't you love how things work out.

Wes Moreno as administrator makes sense. He HAS kicked ass.

Your coffee with commissioner video yesterday did also.

Now hold the line if D2 puts in the guy who has the same name as a toilet-- who has a questionnaire out there, online that he IS FOR consolidation -- basically calling to get rid of the board he is tryng to get elected to. What is wrong with those voters?

Noticed Peacock showed back up on ECW on the COW thread. We see what you are doing there.

Maybe they will be smart enough to put in Brown. Not holding my breath there though.

Things are looking up overall.

God forbid we actually hire a professional administrator. Someone that actually understands how to be a CEO. Of course a good administrator wouldn’t come here and stay long and put up with the shenanigans of the current BOCC

Gilley was a mistake. This isn't.

Notice the sheriff budget fiasco this year? Hey .. No, there wasn't one. No drama no conflict, no Dupe the Welsh and Mr Emmissary. No "I'm not going to escort your loved one". No chief deputy on facebook nor radio and media appearances. 2017.

As you had in your video Wednesday, Wes said what it was like workng with the public and Eric explained the public safety EMS holdings.

That is how it's supposed to work. We elect representative who hire CEO and the public goes on and lives their lives.

Conflict is dysfunctional.

We lived through the facebook years hopefully.

I think Wes was a good hire and choice. Him sitting with Chips working it out is how it is supposed to be done.

Hope more people go to Myescambia.com and learn for themselves and don't depend on some Jerry Springer types to filter info for them.
