I am one member of a five person board. The opinions I express on this forum are mine only, and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Escambia County Staff, Administrators, Employees, or anyone else associated with Escambia County Florida. I am interested in establishing this blog as a means of additional transparency to the public, outreach to the community, and information dissemination to all who choose to look. Feedback is welcome, but because public participation is equally encouraged, appropriate language and decorum is mandatory. Although this is not my campaign site for re-election--sometimes campaign related information will be discussed, therefore in an abundance of caution I add the following : Political Advertisement Paid for and Approved by Jeff Bergosh, Republican, for Escambia County Commissioner District 1

County Staff's Early Monday Morning Update to Commissioners on Coronavirus/COVID 19

I received an evening brief from Janice Gilley, Escambia County Administrator and Eric Gilmore, Escambia County Emergency Management Director late yesterday.  It is my understanding that each commissioner received this same individual briefing.

This morning, all commissioners received the below email.  It appears as if the County and the City may be putting out an announcement indicating we will be following the CDC's "No Gatherings of 50 or More" Guidance.....  Stay tuned.

"Here are a few updates since we spoke yesterday afternoon:
  • I have communicated with the Superintendent to see if they will need assistance with the food program for children.  He will discuss with staff and let me know.
  • Either each of the Constitutionals or their top staff have been communicated with to determine their needs.  We have offered help wherever possible.
  • I meet with Scott Luntsford today.
  • David Stafford has requested assistance with extra cleaning during the voting at the county managed polling places. Cassie and I are meeting this am to discuss.
  • Pam Childers is working closely with the Chief Judge to determine appropriate steps for court operations.
  • I spoke at length last night with the Governor's executive staff and we have a direct line of communication for any needs and guidance.
  • I have also been communicating with a close friend who is an Assistant County Administrator in Broward. They are ground zero right now and they are available to us for guidance as well.
  • Our department directors will be meeting at EOC for our morning meeting.  We will be discussing next steps as it relates to operations and employees.
  • Expect us to announce that we are limiting gatherings to 50 people jointly with the City. I will confirm this am. ( The CDC still excludes schools, businesses and churches from this directive. )
  • Expect us to activate the EOC once we have one confirmed case as we have been directed by the State.
  • Eric Gilmore and I will be going to the drive through specimen collection project and actually putting our eyes on the batch "testing kits".  Eric has notified PPD and SO for monitoring.
  • The Joint information Center will be open again today from 8 am to 5 pm with scheduled updates going out at 10 am and 2 pm.

I will provide an update later today."

No Leadership from D2 as usual..on his page he's lying about running a business from his house. Sun biz is a thing. It's a non profit. Seems he would be disseminating information. I wonder if he knows or is he too busy protecting himself from code enforcement and law enforcement what's Owned doing?

Under/Owens campaign is still stuck on the fire fighter high. Hilarious D2 has that red banner about telling the truth on his page.
