I am one member of a five person board. The opinions I express on this forum are mine only, and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Escambia County Staff, Administrators, Employees, or anyone else associated with Escambia County Florida. I am interested in establishing this blog as a means of additional transparency to the public, outreach to the community, and information dissemination to all who choose to look. Feedback is welcome, but because public participation is equally encouraged, appropriate language and decorum is mandatory. Although this is not my campaign site for re-election--sometimes campaign related information will be discussed, therefore in an abundance of caution I add the following : Political Advertisement Paid for and Approved by Jeff Bergosh, Republican, for Escambia County Commissioner District 1

Special Board Meeting Tentatively Set for Friday at 11:00

.....And obviously the subject will be a discussion of whether or not to close the beaches in the wake of the Chinese Coronavirus/COVID 19 Pandemic.  Other topics may be added as well.

I asked on Tuesday for this meeting, glad we are going to have it.

Other jurisdictions have closed their beaches and some local areas are contemplating doing this as I write this.

I think having this discussion with my peers, in public, with public input, will be good.

This is a tentative time/tentative meeting.  As more is known and once the time is firmed-up, I will update this post.

Commissioner Bergosh, I hope that the BOCC and Administrator Gilley will consider that the citizens who understand how grave this scenario is will not be able to attend the meeting to provide public input. There are *many* of us staying home as much as we can to be responsible; people with even a mild cold won't be able to come; immune suppressed individuals can't come. Those voices won't be represented, due to Sunshine restrictions on needing to be present to provide input.
